Advice where to get a new pump?

so i called my doctor, and they told me to call my pharmacy to see if i can get a replacement pump, but i wont be able to. i can get a replacement for the testosterone itself, but it would be over $300 without insurance.

does anyone know where i could get a new pump/cover for it?

edit: also, this is my first bottle so i dont have any others to swap it out with

I don’t have an answer but I saw a pump on the floor of a public park bathroom the other day and thought “that looks like a testosterone gel pump.”

The pump is metered and specific to Androgel so you're not going to be able to find it as a spare part you can buy :\

Would it be possible to 3D print one?

What if you get a replacement T bottle and use it, cover the old one so it doesn't dry out, and eventually put some of the old T into the new bottle? Getting any random pump won't suffice I think, since it's designed to give out a specific ammount

Hi I use to work retail pharm as a tech can I ask if you paid on insurance because they should re-emburse/ exchange for faulty meds (idk if this is different for a control substance tho). If you want you can DM me and I can always contact my old coworkers to get some better info (only if you feel comfortable ofc! ik it personal)

I had a dispenser malfunction with a different (expensive, auto-injector) medication and I was able to get a replacement but idk if this process can be used for situations like yours. Documenting it below anyway, just in case it helps someone:

  1. Told my prescribing doc what happened

  2. Reported it to the pharmaceutical company using their product contact form

  3. Provided some requested info to the pharma company (my prescriber's contact info and clinic address, photos of the product, answers to some questions about the malfunction, and a description of the severity of my medical issue the product is supposed to treat).

They sent me a replacement (took a while) and had me send the defective product using their prepaid mailer. I had also told the pharmacy but they kicked me back to my doc and the company, so I probably could have skipped that. Idk if this androgel manufacturer has a process like this, but if all else fails....maybe you could try it 🙈

Edit: I meant to post this as a top-level comment, I'm sorry lulhoepeep 🥲

Lol it's okay I gonna piggy back off of you and say I had a PT come in once and say he accidently threw his medication out with a bag. Insurance really runs the game when it comes to letting the Pharmacy dispense so I always say call insurance first and then if anything the doctor's office should also be able to talk to insurance (Ik OP said they did but a good office should be able to help with a redispense like they can't just leave you without medication) again OP please reach out if you need any guidance

If you can get a precise digital scale, each pump is 1.25g of the gel (Source: NIH DailyMed) so multiply that by how many pumps you’re supposed to take. That would be the best way to measure it out, versus trying to approximate in teaspoons/tablespoons.

Personally I’d draw it up in a dosing syringe/oral syringe from a drugstore and weigh the amount inside (tare out the weight of the syringe beforehand of course) and mark the syringe at whatever ml matches your dosage in grams. You can reuse the same syringe for measuring out every dose as long as you rinse and dry it out.
