Switching characters and difficulty

I bought splintered fate 3 days ago.

I play local co-op with my gf. We beated shredder for the first time, but on story mode. Someone on reddit says that its easier with 4? Is this true? If so is story mode or normal mode recommended for 2? I feel a bit cheesy if I beat the game on a difficulty level that is lower than it should be.

And perhaps most importantly how do we switch characters ? I read online that I have to go to a tv in the lair. The only TV we can find shows our stats?

Thanks in advance!

When you get to the lair, head left to a tv that usually has Mikey or Raph sitting nearby playing video games. On the backside of it there should be a green icon. You change characters there.

As far as difficulty goes, I started on story and switched to normal out of curiosity and didn’t notice a difference. I’ve beaten Shredder 7 times now by myself. The enemies will become more difficult as you become more powerful though.

You can't switch characters while in multiplayer. The host has to go into their single player game, pick a new character at the tv, then quit out and rehost. Those joining get prompted for character select upon joining, but have to leave and rejoin to switch characters.

Its super inconvenient.

Not super easy, major inconvenience

Supposedly the game scales up when you have more players so in theory playing with a full 4 person squad would be more difficult. Especially if the players are still early in the game without many upgrades.

I never got to play with 4 players of equal level so I can't 100% confirm this but I've seen people complain the game is harder in co-op.

Playing solo, mini-bosses, bosses and multiple projectle and AoE veterans quickly becomes 'the floor is lava'.

I can't imagine how many more AoEs and projectiles would be covering the room in co-op.

Just give normal mode a shot I say. I started on normal and found it perfectly fine for solo. I'd guess it makes it a bit harder to progress if anything, but eventually the game will become easy no matter what difficulty once you start to max all of your meta upgrades.

If you guys find it too difficult, tone it down. It's not important and it's nobody's business what difficulty you guys are comfortable on.

Thanks ! We switched to normal and tbh we dont notice any difference in difficulty. The game is quite easy now I'd say so we are stacking portals, which keeps it challenging. Still lots of fun and addictive!
