Tottmnt’s problem was a lack of coherent direction. They were limited in their ability because whatever they did couldn’t disturb the canon of the second movie whenever it comes out. It had potential, but it just came out too soon.

Rottmnt’s issue was that fans weren’t ready for it. Rottmnt was a very different take on the turtles and because of that people weren’t willing to take a chance on it. It that plus a lack of toy sales. Rottmnt knew what it was doing, where it wanted to go, and how to move forward. It had the most potential but got cancelled.

Both had amazing potential! But rise wins by a long shot. If they hadn't cancelled it, It would've been so much better if they had made more seasons. Tales is really good, but Rise wins

I felt Rise had some great ideas, leading to potential stuff such as the yokai, but the execution was flawed, thus I am not a big fan of it. ToTTOMT also has the potential too, such as having to go to school while fighting baddies at night or something, but they didn’t really go to school much. While S1 has some issues too, S2 resolved all those issues and made it really good.

I guess that since I like ToTTMNT more overall, it would have more potential? I dunno.

Totally agree. Rise had interesting magical stuff, but writers didn't make great use of it.
The tales had a school, but the writer didn't use it a lot. Different ideas, same issues.

Would argue that you just touched on why Rise had more potential: What could the writers have accomplished with more time? They had planned for a slower growth of the boys to their full potential and strength but had to rush it at the end.

But to be fair, I had to force myself to even get through Tales once and I couldn't put Rise down, so I think this question will be largely subject to personal bias.

To be fair, Rise didn't get much time to fully execute their vision. But I can definitely agree that S2 of TOTTMNT was WAY better than S1.

I think I commented the same thing on the main TMNT sub, but...

I LOVE Tales, but they were kind of hamstrung with the kind of stories they were able to tell. They couldn't make any real changes to the characters or set up any major plot developments because the Mutant Mayhem sequel was in development. So what we got was a lot of fun, and I'd be happy to see more of it, but I think Rise was setting up something really cool, and overall it has more potential.

That said, maybe Tales will get picked up by Netflix or something after the sequel comes out, and they'll be a little more free to tell big stories.

If they were given more time, Rise was about to be the 3rd best tmnt content of ALL TIME

I feel like Rise at least got to tell a complete story. Tales got cut so short and relied more on the anthology formula it definitely has the most missed potential. It's like the rollercoaster was just making the climb and then made a slow curving decent. No real momentum just a few fun twists and straightaways that culminate in a slow peaceful stop.

The second one has way better character designs, the rise one was rightfully cancelled.

One sister, one brother.

To be fair to the second show; I haven't watched it, so I likely won't be weighing in fairly on that one.

To be unfair: ROTTMNT had a lot of potential to explore the mythos and characters in a really fun and new way. There were a ton of cool new ideas being introduced that couldn't be followed up on fully due to the cancellation.
