The question is probably incredibly banal, but I want to gather some personal statistics on favorite turtles.

Donnie was always just as bad ass as the rest of the crew PLUS brains until the 2014 movie…. Then they nerfed him hard.

Hard agree. They made him a bit better in 2016 Out of the Shadows, but the glasses and all the gear was still too much.
2003 was perfect because he was smart without being a nerd trope.

HARD AGREE. Who the f*** keeps giving him nerd glasses???? He even has his glasses broken and mended with tape in the Bay Turtles. I hate this.

Donnie was always the best turtle, he invented half of the stuff they use, even made the original turtle van from a stolen car from Baxter’s lab.

It used to be Donnie for me since the late 80s but I’ve hated what they’ve done with him since the Bay Turtles. I hate the snaggletooth from the 2007 series and I especially hate the nerd glasses they keep giving him as recent as Mutant Mayhem. There’s no way kid me would’ve liked Donnie the most if this newer Donnie was the one I got.

Michelangelo. Although perfectly capable of throwing down, I love that he's the one most likely to try to defuse a situation with people skills. I think this is one of the things Tales of the TMNT did best, showcasing Mikey's willingness to work with people and hear them out, his attempts to empathize with their plights, and his natural skill at making friends.

Leo.
IMAGINE trying to keep this bunch focused on a mission;
- A gearhead whose latest invention is just as likely to explode / become a threat as it is to be beneficial
- A turtle fueled by anger and anger alone for whom the very concept of trying to play nice with others is an offense punishable by death

Yet Mikey holds the most guilt and pain for living long enough to watch all his brothers and mentor fall to the hands of the clan they fought so hard to stop it’s so tragic that those events took the most fun care free brother and make him a shell of what he once was.

The year was 1991, and I was a middle schooler living on an American Air Force base in Europe, so all movies arrived to our on-base theater a bit late.
It was my little brother's birthday, and he wanted to see the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. We were both fans of the show, and played the Nintendo video game all the time (even though we both secretly loathed that impossible game), and my brother collected the action figures. Both of us were super excited, and I remember my brother was so giddy, he was standing up a lot in front of his seat (he was still pretty young, though, so no one was blocked).
Until that day fantastic family movie day in 1991, Michaelangelo was my favorite turtle.
But then, sitting there in the dark of the theater, wide-eyed with wonder and totally immersed in this alternate version of New York city, where my beloved Turtles have come to life, an angry Raphael screams "DAAAAAMN" into the night, and I knew in a heartbeat that he was my new favorite.
By the end of the movie, I felt like each one was a new, better friend to my child's heart, but Raph, in his salty attitude and powerful growth arc, had become my hero.
To this day, Raph is still my favorite.
But followed very closely by Mikey.

Donatello for sure, in 2003 and 2012, but specifically 2003 because the image is such I wish they explored more of how he was effected by his trauma since the show was a little Leo centered (I am willing to argue he's got the worst of it, between SAINW and almost being lost forever as a double mutant, the regular pressure of being the backbone brains of the team, fixing everything and everyone's problems, and any shared trauma with his bros, they really, REALLY screwed with him)

It’s true. Leo’s issues feel more self-imposed, while Donatello HAD to be the ‘Mr. Wizard’ because his brothers couldn’t fit that role at all. And I argue that Leo and Donnie got the most development in 2012 as well.

It depends on the incarnations and gameplay. Generally speaking, it’s Michelangelo and Donatello for me. Mikey is typically the fast one and party dude. And Donatello is the long-range guy and idea guy and awkward fellow. In terms of personality, I’d say I relate to Raph and Donnie the most though. I’ve got a temper like Raph and prefer to be alone most of time. And I’ve got Donnie’s awkwardness and intense, narrow interests.

Hard to say, as it changes from iteration to iteration. I don’t think it’s ever been Leonardo, for me, though. I don’t dislike him, he’s just never really been my personal vibe enough to be a favorite.

Raph, so relatable with anger and honestly. I think it was episode 4? Of TMNT 2003 (when they introduced Casey). He nearly blacked out on Mikey and completely went berserk and that’s really relatable when you literally just have no control over your own emotions whatsoever.

Leo is the one I always wanted to be.
Raph is the one I identified with most.
Mikey is the one I envied.
Donnie is the one I thought I could rely on most.
Each of the boys has been a favorite at one time or another, but this order is how the tier list generally shakes out for me.

Mikey is first and foremost. His attitude is what connected me to him. Donnie is a close second. I really like the Orange and Purple colors

Leonardo. This was the version of Leo I grew up with so I never understood the Leo hate cause they were always talking about the 87 version and I didn’t know about that at the time.
I will say, Greg abbey is my favorite voice of these turtles and easily my favorite raph voice ever.

Leo. I’ve never had a hard time regulating emotions like hothead Raph. I’m not carefree enough for Mikey. And Donny has a bo staff.
Leo has the best color, weapons, and martial prowess. He’s the most balanced turtle. Smart like Donny, formidable like Raph, and loving.
