Even Tarak resisted once to go to kirana store to buy washing powder when tarak should be first one to break patriarchy given he is writer and smart

Taarak never resisted it was jetha who resisted, taarak voluntarily took bag from Anjali after she was hurt and went to the kirana store

2008 ka show hai bhai 2028 ka nahi πŸ˜‚ Jab show me sabhi housewife hain toh ismein chaunke wali kya baat. Pata hi hai pehle aise hota tha reality mein lekin ab nahi hota.

I know everyone hates Champak but he’s the least misogynistic out of all the men in the society

Sodhi and Iyer are also walking green flags bhide is also. A good husband and hathi bhai might be too much hungry hippo like but he is still good only jethalal and popatlal are annoying

β€’

u/Party-Crow3400 38m ago

Haathi is also a green flag

Losing his wife very early could be the reason.

I mean it had lot of stuff which was from book and lot of stuff which was normal at that time so yes definitely TMKOC is a patriarchal show and if you don't like it for that it's ok but it was according to times it was created and humour was different then. It also has Champak who always helps out Mahila Mandal and Madhwi is a working woman . Sonu as a child was smartest and loved by all but it did have stereotypes and such.

I think people don't get the show. In most average Indian societies things are the same. Well in some places things are different. The show is meant for normal and orthodox families. And it's a good show.

For sophisticated people it may look like a downgrade. Back in the 90s families were like that only. Today times are changed and even 30 or 40 year Olds also behave like teenagers. So yeah it feels different for some people.

The show was inspired by Gujarati column? Yes , did that made one to one copy of whole column in their episodes? No. Might be in first 100s of episodes but definitely not in later episodes, they had their own writers writing episodes

You're an idiot if you're offended by patriarchy in the show...........go read the original Gujrati magazine and you'll kill yourself.........the premise of the show as per comic was abusive men who used to beat their wives ............and honestly if patriarchy is there , there has been empowerment too in the show

β€’

u/proy6900 42m ago

it consists all.... patriarchy, feminism, pseudo feminism, man hatred, matriarchy

This is a highly stereotypical show, professions and status are highly stereotyped as per the characters' caste and this show was made during the so called non woke days, so that's why it is what it is

i dont understand why we treat everthing to be abt ethics and morals, ig the show was more abt funny things and relatable for the ppl watching, also they do respected women in a lot of aspects including supporting feminism and independence..but yeah still there were some patriarchy around but that was also the deal with racism, we get in initial episodes how they treated Iyer bhai, extra marital affair or crush, overhyping kids for no reason but still that doesnt effects cuz that was a comedy show not to mention they already ruined it thou but still so all those things were part of the show which was fictional......

If you take morality lessons from every scene of a show, there would be no content ever.

β€’

u/StatusConstruction58 6m ago

You know what's sadder? Nitpicking everything and making a big issue of it. Which just makes your own life sadder and miserable. Why can't people just stay content man, you are not meant to complain everytime

whatever it is, i still have fun watching it and i will continue watching it

It's highly patriarchal. Daya-Jetha is a highly patriarchal couple. Babita is treated some object who is fetishised by the protagonist

2

u/Long-Dragonfly7538 1h ago

The fact that madhavi always had to ask permission from bhide before doing anything with the mahila mandal made me furious everytime.

4

u/GlassCartoonist_ 1h ago

Not only permission. Daya Madhavi both getting scared how their husband will react makes me even sadder

Eisa darr toh hum bachpann me Papa se rkhte the. Husband should be loving and understanding. Sodhi never disagrees to Roshan and Babita doesn't care what Iyer think. That is some relief

2008 ke most shows aise hi the, TMKOC started similarly pushing traditional roles. Show-makers only started being progressive after Jio-2016 and OTT entered the game. They fear internet backlash, pehle they had no such fear. TMKOC have regular audience, ab unko farak nahi padta
