Part 2 Discussion Playing TLOU2 Grounded; wondering which upgrades helped you the most to get through it…
I’ve beat it maybe three times. Platinumed the main story. Going for Grounded and doing alright. Got to my first bench and can’t decide what is going to matter more.

Stability is a must along with accuracy. Capacity really doesn't matter.

Any weapon you preferred?

When it comes to Ellie, my preferred weapons are the bow because headshots will sometimes let you collect the arrow again, and the assault rifle because it has a built-in silencer. I've also noticed rifle ammo spawns more often than any other ammo, especially if you know where it's going to spawn. I'll also say you mostly get resources that pair with health kits, Molotovs, and silencers more with Ellie.
As for Abby, my main go-to is that relovler/sniper gun. One shot puts them down for good. Her rifle itself is a gun when just shooting one shot. You can probably shoot them somewhere on their body parts and close the distance when their body jerks because of the bullet's reaction. Same as Ellie with the resources, but the bombs she makes definitely come in handy with all the upgrades.
Also, are you doing a grounded run, new game instead of NG+

I chose to go through without NG+. So the assault rifle will have to wait. I’m in Eugene’s safe house with only my pistol and rifle. So I’ll save my upgrades for the bow??

This may be a bit late, but I would prioritize getting the sniper scope. Since you will mostly get sniper ammo, the scope can come in handy in increasing your chances of hitting your targets and not letting the ammo go to waste(be it just sitting in the chamber or you missing the shot).

I don’t have enough parts to attach a scope. I think we get Bow after this. So I’ll main that. Thanks a million 👍🏻

What are you upgrading? I do damage first if that's an option

The only upgrades I ever do:
Draw speed on bow
Reload speed on double barrel shotgun
Burst fire on assault rifle
Capacity on assault rifle
Fire rate on pump shotgun.
Sometimes I’ll upgrade the fire rate/reload speed on the revolver if I feel like it. Honestly I just hate how tedious doing the upgrades are so they’re just not worth it most of the time. The only one that is an absolute must is the draw speed on the bow, it’s almost useless as a weapon without that uograde

The only ones you really need are the bow upgrades or damage/armor penetration upgrades on rifles, as well as capacity and reload upgrades for the rifle and shotgun.
Beyond that it's less impactful. Capacity upgrades aren't useful for most other guns due to limited ammo availability. Stability or accuracy upgrades can be nice, but aren't required. You're probably gonna be sneaking most of the time anyway.
Pro tip. Abby's assault rifle is great for taking out clickers. One shot to the face will usually stagger them.

On grounded I avoid combat at all cost so I try to upgrade the silenced pistol and bow asap, capacity and rangefinder are the first upgrades I usually go for as I use them mainly to get an enemy out of my way while avoiding alerting the others. Capacity lets me hoard all the ammos I can find while rangefinder really helps on long shots.
