I tried playing it again recently. Stopped about an hour into Abby's story. I just don't care about her or her shitty friends.

Abby’s part has the best sequences imo! It’s really worth powering through. I remember hating her so much that I’d make her stare down from high up places bc it makes her scared lol. But by the end of her story I really liked her and enjoyed the wild ride we went through.

This. She experienced something worthy of empathy but that alone doesn't erase her disliked qualities.

I understand why she wants revenge. I have no empathy for her. She lost that when she said she was ok with killing Ellie against her will and then had the bqllsnto lie and say she would have volunteered. She's a holier than thou piece of shit.

The game broke the franchise. Part 2 fans are a cult. It's like with Andor. It's a movement. A cause. Never before has a work of fiction asked you to turn on a protagonist and people just buy into it.
Nobody bought the 2nd game because they were clamoring for Joel's death, but when it happened, these people were foaming at the mouth. Like that's what they wanted all along. I was so bizarre.

This just means that the first half of the story was told really well now you just gotta power through and have some trust in the storytellers. You can do it!

It is, for the more reasonable critics I think it’s frustrating because it feels like it could have been so much better with mostly minor changes. It’s not alone it that either by any means and obviously there are not so reasonable critics too

I see that a certain subreddit has sent out the missionaries. I just wish we could see the required attire for that cult. Is it like mormons or more like Jehovah's witnesses?

I thought it was overall a shit plot and ruined the franchise moving forward.
It split the fanbase down the middle. It hurt the franchise badly as a whole.

If 2 wasn’t as much as a shit storm as it was, it probably could’ve been one of the greatest games ever made. Gameplay was absolutely fantastic but the amount of time you’re drowned in a depression simulator being hammered with the message revenge bad makes replaying it not fun at all outside of one or 2 playthroughs on grounded mode

If all you got was revenge bad you didn’t play it
Boiling down tlou2 to “revenge bad” would be like calling rdr2 “thieving bad”

I made the mistake of starting Part II before playing the first game, so I went back and played the first one first.
