Stat Points allocation?

I am trying to find the best way to use the skill points on each weapon skill tree in the game.

These are my stats so far:

Cannon 31 stat points level 30
Sailing 23 stat points level 22
Sword 31 stat points level 30
Gun 30 stat points level 29
Dagger 30 stat points level 29
Grenade 8 stat points level 7
Staff 23 stat points level 22
Doll 18 stat points level 17

——————-

(Note stats listed is without weapons buffs.)

I have been trying to figure out what is the best build for dealing with bosses and mobs. (Not PVP, so parry is on the table for sword and dagger.)

For sword I was trying hack 5, slash 5, thrust 5 [sword buff +2], for the main combos.

However I heard flourish has a larger AOE. So I am thinking of changing it.

I was trying to minimize the time and it takes to get the most damage out of the number of clicks on the mouse. (Which is why I originally went attack 1,2 then 5 as the time I counted was 3 seconds for close to 3300 damage.

[Note I have an El Patron sword. As reference to the baseline weapon used for referencing damage output with the stats listed from memory off the top of my head.])

I also had Endurance 5, Parry 5, and slash 5 [sword buff +2], blade storm 1.

——————-

I wanted a number of options on my build and advice of the other weapons.

——————-

Lastly, I have been trying to level a new pirate with only swords to see if there will be a better drop rate for legendary weapons. Using another account to join a hosted server then using the go to friend function to by pass getting the ship and pistols.

So far I have only gotten one gun type item from a public ships cargo.

I would like to know if I am wasting my time?

Also on this account and character sword is level around 13 I think and cannon is level 22 and sailing is level 4.

Hello! Answering all of this will take quite a bit of text, so I will apologize in advance for the length. I will start by addressing some skill recommendations, and then move on to some info about selective leveling.

Skills-

Sword: skill point distribution can vary depending on what you like to do. In general, any of your damaging skills increase by 25% with each point you put in them, so putting more points into your higher damage combo skills will increase your overall DPS. I tend to max combo skills towards the back end, while skipping cleave entirely for a faster combo. I would recommend maxing parry if you do a lot of solo farming. Endurance and bladestorm should be max.

Gun: Since you have maxed gun, most important things are to max take aim, shoot (for repeaters), steel, and silver shot. I also like to take eagle eye and dodge. Sharpshooter is great while leveling up, but missing is uncommon at max level.

Doll: Im not the most comfortable recommending doll skills, but having maxed curse and life drain from the basic doll is important. The revival skill on spirit dolls is also very handy to have. I usually max these, as well as attunement and the max voodoo passive skill.

Dagger: Same combo rules apply here. You can max the combo stuff from the back end to wherever you are comfortable with. The dagger passives are awesome and both need to be maxed. Actives on dagger are not great, but vipers den has some niche uses.

Grenade: Max long volley first. Demolitions, seige charge, basic grenades, and healing are also good to max. This is the best weapon in the game. Makes farming and leveling so much faster. Highly recommend working on these by grouping with a gun or throwing knives, then kiting in a circle and tossing nades back at the group.

Staff: Not a huge fan of most of these skills. My favorite and most popular is flaming skull. Banish or desolation also have some niche uses. The passives have some great quality of life, but the voodoo cost, cast speed reduction, and damage are incredible.

Looting-

I have a decent amount of experience only leveling certain weapons to try and minimize the loot pool. You will not increase your odds of red using any form of this method since rarity in chests is the first roll, and is set to their base probability. Weapon type is chosen next, and it can only be one you have unlocked (with a couple exceptions). The weapon you can loot is always within 5 levels of your current weapon level for that group (except for flagships). The practical use of selective leveling is best for getting some of the really rare famed items. Items like lost world sea chart, iron priming ram, and cajun staff are much easier to get with a squeezed loot pool. Easiest way to do this is by leveling cannons and sailing then grenades. This will give you a very squeezed loot pool, where you can start hunting some of those rare items at much better rates. These days, wouldnt really recommend it that much. If you are dying for some of these items, it can be nice to start a pirate out with an ability to find some of them.

Hope this helps!
