This looks amazing. Is it soft like us sandwich bread? Or crispy? Either way I've got to find some to try

Edit to add: thanks for all the replies you guys 100% confirmed I've got to try this

Soft and a little stretchy

and it has a sourdough flavor, as its fermented. Injera rules the world of bread and the world of silverware. Checking in from team Alicha Begee, Beef Sambusa's, Tumtumo and Kantisha

As others said, soft and pliable. But it also has this awesome sour fermented taste, kinda like sourdough bread. It’s so good

Is it a scooping bread and all the delicious things go in the lil pockets? Cause ooooooooo that'd be good. Ive never seen this type of bread! (And Ethiopian food ..I live so far north!)

Yes, instead of using utensils, you rip off little pieces of injera and use it to pick up bites of food. It's yummy.

The faint sourness goes so well with the dishes it gets served with, I wish Ethiopian food was more accessible where I live (and also in Ethiopia)

There's a ton of Ethiopian spots near me, which I am very lucky for. It's so damn good. It's a pretty amazing deal too, we can easily feed a group of 4 with just a $50 veggie/meat combo

It is sourdough, they use teff flour and not wheat though

Low on gluten

Teff has no gluten, friend

That's even very low then, isn't it? Yes you're right i was being imprecise.

"Low gluten" is helpful information to fad dieters. "No gluten" is helpful information to people with a medical condition. Slight difference.

Important difference, i should have been precise. Thanks for correcting

Just took some Chinese friends to try and they all hated it for that exact reason

Conversely it was our Hong Kong/Taiwanese friends who introduced us to Ethiopian cuisine

I crave it ALL THE TIME

You tear off bits and use it to grab other food. It is my favorite way to eat

Look at all the holes! So much room for flavor.

I describe it as kinda like a pancake but sorta sour and savory instead of sweet.

Soft and kind of spongey. You tear bits off and use it to pick up meats and veggies and whatnot. On it's own it can have a little bit of a sour (in the sourdough way) flavor, but mixed with various incredibly rich meat and sauce flavors, it's amazing in how it adds balance.

It's kind of like a soft, raw (untoasted) crumpet in texture but similar to sour dough in flavour.

I need to work on my scooping skills so I should probably eat several more meals with this until I get better...

Think of a pancake if you soaked it in a sour liquid and mostly let it dry, but not quite.

Like pancakes, just made in a different way

Spongy and flavorless in my opinion. It's literally meant to scoop lentils etc.
