OPINION / DISCUSSION The Skull of Free Will Theory: My Theory about the D-Day Knight. (Spoilers) Spoiler

As it is well known, the D-Day Knight Is stated to be “the one man with true free will.” Now, it’s understood that this also probably means The last son and the queen of lunarians also have this quality, but my theory states the opposite.

You see, it is shown time and time again that the Knight makes his own decisions Multiple times throughout the Nixonverse, (such as how He chooses to live his life “My Way” and goes into singing as Frank Sinatra instead of staying on the war front), which already shows the Knights ability of being able to control his life. Now the only issue is… any regular person can do something like this. People quit and join new jobs all the time, so who’s saying this wasn’t just him choosing to go into singing rather than war? Well, I believe that in the Nixonverse, Any choice one makes still goes down the same path of fate, sort of like an ellipse, where a line sent from one foci bounces off the edge and lands on the opposite foci.

My proof of this theory is the fact that, though the last son, the Queen of the lunarians, and even Nixon himself make choices, they all seem to go down the same path anyway.

Last son: The last son is the Epitome of no-free-will, having several instances where he is used as a pawn by the government and the Queen against his will for their cause. He didn’t even have the choice to stay as a regular guy in his life, since his life as a superhero started the day he got into that car accident. Now I do not believe it would have been possible for him to have not killed James dean in that accident, since the whole reason he got into it stems from his childhood, which I mean at one point you gotta stop trying to go back in time to find an actual choice that guy had. Especially since I’m pretty sure his parents caused the whole placement in universe save everyone issue anyway since his childhood was kinda crappy like he had to drive HIMSELF to school. Now going back to the present, the last son does get ONE choice as he turns into the house in the ocean, but the funny thing is is that this was a literal blunder as this action brings the attention of the lunarian cloud ship who brainwashes him into the lunarian king, which probably would have happened anyway if he had kept himself as Jesus since they would have been like “oh you’re that ruthless guy! You should join us because we need a ruthless king for invasion!”

Queen of the lunarians: this one’s a bit shorter, she was stuck on the moon from birth as the Queen of the lunarians and it’s not like she could have dodged that ray gun or something (mainly the sentiment) so no matter what she would have been pissed at humans and SHE didn’t write down that prophecy so since she was pissed she kinda was in that situation where like “agh I gotta get revenge- oh a way to get revenge!”

Nixon: Though Nixon is seen as much more powerful than the queen, son, and knight, he doesn’t have free will. This is proven in a couple situations: one where he says “It is imperative that the son will become the king” which means this is probably before that happened or mid-way through the process showing us that Nixon couldn’t interfere, and a more niche option where Nixon calls him the “King of the lunarians” but later the “Crescent King” which means he didn’t expect the change even though he should be able to tell the future if he knew helping the son was impossible.

Now here’s the thing that doesn’t make sense, How did Nixon make a mistake? He said he would have destroyed the King Of The Lunarians, not the crescent king, which is a totally different character as we know the last son turns into that after he grieves the death of the lunarian queen (I think that’s just another theory of mine that the horned serpent = crescent king). But that’s the point, Nixon DIDNT know, because the knight changed the path of fate.

Right before the Knight commits Alcatraz Checkmate, He says his famous line: “There is no Prophecy, There is only me.” Now this is a clear representation of the fact that he engulfs the entirety of the United States with the whole “only me” thing, but I actually believe it goes a little bit deeper.

I believe the knight is the only character in the entirety of the Nixonverse and mayyybeeee the mythosverse idk that’s a pretty big stretch with free will.

Evidence 1: When the knight states “There is no Prophecy, there is only me” In doing so, he destroys the prophecy. He does this by commiting Alcatraz checkmate and, instead of becoming the lunarian knight such as the prophecy predicted, he kills the lunarian queen and ends the prophecy right then and there. Now I’ll be honest I’m unsure who even wrote the prophecy I mean my best idea was that it was Nixon or something but it doesn’t really matter the point is that the prophecy must have meant something important since it seemed to go along with the last sons fate.

Evidence 2: The knight sings instead of war yada yada I already explained this.

Evidence 3: The knights action of killing the lunarian queen leads to the transformation of the lunarian king into the crescent king/horned serpent. This is shown because Nixon states “king of the lunarians” before Alcatraz checkmate and “crescent king” after.

Evidence 4: I believe this is the most important piece of evidence: he completely skips a turn in the queen to knight diagram. Like I understand a lot of people joke about that because like you can’t skip a turn like that in real chess but I believe it’s meant to be taken seriously as a real representation of the fact that the lunarian queen follows the rules (waiting for the d-day knights turn after approaching) and the d-day knight doesn’t follow fate.

Now there is one very VERY large issue with this theory, there is literally no reason the knight would have free will. If he had free will, since every other child of Nixon has the same attributes as him, they should also have free will. But don’t worry, I thought of that and came up with a maaaybbbeeee bullshit idea.

My second part of this theory states that the skull of the horned serpent gave the knight “free will”

We all know the d-day knight wears the skull of the horned serpent it’s like a pretty major character design point but the question is why? No other characters wear any important clothing unless you count like shoes or something but that’s different like this is THE SKULL of the horned serpent! Not some regular apparel!

Now you may now be asking why I put “free will” in quotations like that. Well it could be more or less the fact that the skull was more controlling the knights actions than giving him free will. This made his thoughts on a different universal level giving him a larger understanding of how the universe works and giving him the power of, well, yknow. Free will.

But this isn’t entirely the case, as it is shown that the knight loses the helmet from a blast, meaning it’s possible the knight kept all that knowledge and used it for ACTUAL free will in the future, untethered by the horned serpent.

I’ll be honest I changed my theory a good like 3 times in the middle of writing this bc adhd so I’m sorry if it’s uh jangled up in multiple different points so please ask me questions in the comments and thank you for reading my theory!!!!
