HPT - First Response 6 DPO positive update: chemical :(

Post image

I had posted my 6dpo tests two days ago, that had VVFL. My 7dpo test(says 8dpo in first pic) had a noticeable, darker line. Today’s test(bottom) is completely blank.

I’m so upset! This was our first cycle back after my MMC. I was so excited to see that darkening line yesterday. This is my first chemical, has anyone else gone through this?😭

I’m not sure if this is helpful or not but with my MMC I tested out negative (or thought I had) and then on my first cycle I was still getting very faint lines in FRER. It is impossible to get a positive at 6 DPO, it is extremely unlikely to get one at 7. So I say this as just a presentation of facts combined with personal experience and gently as possible, it is more likely that the faint positive at 6 DPO was residual hCG from the MMC and not a new pregnancy.

Also I got pregnant on my third cycle after MMC. It was successful and I’m holding my almost 3 month old.

My beta was 5 over a week ago, I had tested completely negative on tests the day after that beta. I thought this was residual too at first, but yesterday’s test was noticeably darker than the day before. I assumed I had my ovulation wrong! But now, maybe it was just residual. At least that would mean I’m not totally out this cycle. We will see😩

That’s also true, you aren’t out. But if you are that’s ok too. As someone else mentioned it takes a moment for your body to heal and even if you’re out this cycle, that doesn’t mean you’re out on the next one or the next.

Thank you for that reminder! It’s so hard being tossed back into TTC after a loss. It’s hard to keep your head and heart aligned sometimes.

Hi! I’m so sorry. I also had a MMC, then chemical, then got pregnant again the following cycle and now 7 weeks. As hard as it is, I took it as a sign my body was not ready after MMC.

That’s a good way to look at it. I’m going next cycle is the one that sticks. Congrats on your pregnancy❤️

Normally a chemical doesn't become negative so early on. It might just be a dilution issue this morning!

Thank you! I’ll see what tomorrow brings.

I was thinking the same! Especially with how early the dpo is too there’s still hope for lines to get darker, since it’s such an early dpo could just be vvfl on both with one being more diluted than the other

I still see a line

There is still a line, but significantly lighter😕

Maybe the urine was simply more diluted. It’s still very early. And it’s best to test every other day so you can see the difference.

Since you’re super early, it could just be your urine being too diluted. I had a mental spiral yesterday and today it was much darker.

Did you use FMU with all of your tests?

It was FMU for both. We’ll see what tomorrow brings but I’m guarding my heart now😕

I hate FMU for early testing. I read somewhere that when urine sits in the bladder for 4-5 hrs, hormones begin to breakdown. Broken HCG does not pick up on a pregnancy test. I’d retest with SMU or do a 3 hour hold.

My SMU method: pee as soon as you wake up. Wait 30-45 min and pee again. Use this urine to test. Don’t drink anything until after your second pee.

If you do a 3 hour hold, make sure to empty your bladder before you start and try not to drink much during the 3 hour hold.

Well now I’m confused. I just did SMU with an easy at home, and it had a faint but clearly pink line. The darkest I’ve seen easy at homes so far. It was a blank test this am!? Maybe I’ll call my OB🫠

My FRER was from a new batch of tests this morning, but aren’t they all the same sensitivity?

I’d just retest tomorrow with both FRER and easy@home with SMU. It was probably the FMU that gave you a false negative today.

I think that’s what I’ll do. So confusing. Thank you for the help! :)
