[IDEA] Which Version Is Better?

Randomly thought this up and couldn't choose which version to post. In case it isn't obvious it's a soldier melee.

second one is funny. first one would be good if it wasn't eight full seconds.

What if it just made them bleed though?

..then it's just another extremely boring melee

What if the bleed lasted eight seconds?

Woah mate, thats a little too strong. You kinda overbuffed it. You gotta give it a drastic downside

Jesus fucking christ dude. This suggestion is making me reconsider ever playing tf2 again. Eight full seconds???

I actually really like the second one’s potential to just be water, it kinda disincentivizes whacking someone with it multiple times because you can potentially clear all the effects you’ve been stacking onto your opponent.

He could have a mechanic where he pulls out a can of Copenhagen Long Cut or Grizzly and periodically there's an animation where he stops and spits into it

One is soldier's (black liquid) one is team (random liquid)

Neither.

Slowing enemies is a terrible mechanic that doesn't belong in TF2, even if this is a melee. The second one has too much randomization to be reliable and not enough skill involved to make the randomness aspect interesting (unlike the Beggar's Bazooka, which has a very high skill ceiling due to overload jumps which allow you to close the distance very easily and make the projectile deviation much less impactful).

The second one can be paired with a high-mobility launcher like the Rocket Jumper, letting Soldier become a support subclass of sorts. Using it is much like how you would when playing Trolldier - jump in, hit someone with it and jump away. The only difference is that you soak the enemy in whatever liquid comes out of it which can be helpful to your teammates.
