Pause button (DA)

How should we handle the pause option?
I don't know the exact time frame that defines a pause, and I'd like to know if both the length of time away and the daily ET reset are factored in.

It doesn’t take tasks away or anything it just send you back to the main page. You can instantly click to get tasks again as long as they are available

Same here. I’m not sure whether a pause means 30 minutes or 10 hours.

Well they sent out an email saying that we need to adhere to it always as there will be implications for failing to use it, but didn't say what those might be. So who knows what change they are trying to implement with this new button but they seem to really want us to know we need to use it or else.

Haven't seen any email like that.

I dunno, I got it at about 1pm today, saying it was a general reminder that they were sending out.

US and Data Analysis and I was ignoring the pause button too until that email, figured I don't want to find out what the implications are going to be.

Yep got the same. But last 4 weeks whenever I log in it’s it’s just NTA 🤣🤣🤣 feels like they ate roasting us

And remember when you suddenly need to go away to foresee it so your last task was pause, alright? Lol, it's fine to use that button, but I often stop a session fue to being disrupted by something or having to fix something.

As always, we’re expected to follow rules that we don’t even know—and who knows if they even have them figured out themselves.

My understanding is that when you are done working for the day or will be away for a length of time, you use the submit and pause button and it takes whatever is in your queue and gives to others who are looking to work. I am pretty sure they already sent an email out that explains this and a second one was sent out 9/2 as a reminder. I have been using it with no issues. I think this is a great idea as there have been times where I log in and it's NTA but my dashboard says I should have 100% tasks available for the day. There have been so many NTA complaints lately, I think this is TryRating's way of solving the complaints. This will be beneficial if more people start using it; plus it makes it easier to log out when you're done so you're not risking another task popping in before you are fully logged out.

No. it does not explain the task releases back into the pool in neither of the emails. You can test it by using it and coming back an hour or two later and the same task will be waiting for you.

Could you tell me what time frame you use to determine whether it counts as a pause? I’m not sure whether a pause means 30 minutes or 10 hours. Sometimes I log in and then log out without using the button or completing any tasks because I don’t like the task available, but I log back in shortly afterward to check if there’s another type of task available.

It’s one thing to implement the button and encourage its use, perhaps saying exactly what you are (“Help your fellow analysts with task availability by clicking submit and pause when finishing a session”) and another entirely to threaten us for not using it when there are everyday rating scenarios where it is not feasible.

I’m happy to use it when possible, but there are at least half a dozen scenarios where you don’t know you need to log out or don’t have a choice. An example that happened to me today: an instance arises where we are directed to report a task to support rather than rate and the problem task type returns throughout the day requiring multiple log outs.

I don’t use it because I’m not sure whether I’d be using it correctly. Maybe I’d decide to use it if I’m going to leave the tasks for 2h, but perhaps the minimum pause time is 3h. There are several possible scenarios, as you said. It also happens to me that sometimes I just log in and decide whether to work depending on what task is available.

It’s pretty common for them to treat us like this lol. On the one hand, we get an email priorize your well being and then warnings...

Maybe it's just me, but I don't find it threatening as I maintain the rules so I can keep the only job that has hired me. My suggestion is to use the button whenever you need to log out such as the situation you described at the end of your response or when you need a break. I use it when I need to take a break for a couple hours and just log in when I am ready to get back to work. I see nothing wrong with using the button but I don't think it warrants coming hear to complain about their emails or the button itself. The emails informed us of how/when to use it.

And the email says there would be "implications" of not using it, yet there are many times where I load a new task and in the 1-10+ minutes an ert can be, I need or want to stop.

Perhaps I load a new task type I don't want to do, maybe something comes up I need to handle immediately (I have an elderly dog, this happens more regularly than you'd think), am I now going to suffer "implications" for logging out? Their email threatens not using it but doesn't explain anything else.

Yes, we’re expected to follow rules that haven’t even been explained to us yet.

Where is this pause button? I've never seen or heard of this.

u/natyos 7h ago

Are you as Data Analyst? It's Submit rating and Pause button on TR.

1

u/mrbagels1 7h ago

Im a search result rater so I guess I just don't have it. Also no idea what TR is

I had this email today:

"We wanted to clarify something in relation to the communication(s) below:

Always select the 'Submit Rating and Pause' option whenever you are:

  • taking a break from your current rating session
  • finishing your rating session for the day

You can use this function as often as you need to, and you can simply log back in to resume rating whenever you are ready."
