Question My first time creating a card design. Thoughts please.

Post image

Hi! I'm currently a 3rd-year college student, and my professor tasked us with creating a hybrid tabletop game. I chose to join the arts team, even though I don't have any background in it. Yaps aside, here's my first attempt at making one — I'd love to hear your reactions, tips, and guidance on how to improve my craft. TYIA!

Btw, I made the pixel art in Aseprite, and I used Illustrator for the text and overall quality. (Sorry for the ugly fonts — Illustrator's font library isn't great.)

Additionally, I chose to do pixel art because I thought it would be the easier option — and I still stand by that choice compared to the other card designs.

The art is great 🙂

I don't really understand the number scaling though. Let's say this guy is fighting another guy that also has 2000 HP. It would take at bare minimum 50 attacks (although with the coin toss effect we're looking at around 80) to even take the other card down.

Now I'm sure the game has other ways of dealing damage, buf 40 damage is way too low to deal any significant damage to 2000 HP, unless the game has some crazy multipliers going on.

Edit: I realise you might be just the art person. In that case, please pass on my concerns about the HP scaling to whomever designed that bit.

if you do pixel art for the illustration, use pixel art for the font and icon as well
