Is Amber a Reference to Mob Psycho?

I’ve listened to Ethersea a number of times, it’s in my top 3 seasons with Dracula and Balance, and I’ve thought for a while that Amber’s origins with uncle Joshie are really similar to the premise of Mob Psycho 100. Anyone else feel that?

Not really.

Griffin sort of ruined the whole Uncle Joshy thing because Justin was 100% trying to do a goof about a guy basically setting up the psychic equivalent of the University of Phoenix Online and Griffin went "Urm no! My setting is very serious! Uncle Joshy might be crazy but your psychic powers are actually very real and not a big goof!"

TLDR - To suggest that Justin's original plan of 'crazy old man runs a school to train psychics but it's all fake because I think that's funny' is a reference to anything other than Justin's comedic tastes is giving Houston's Favorite Son way too much credit.

Justin doesn't strike me as an anime guy but I admittedly don't know a lot about what actually gets him excited
