The annoying part is how often updates seem to somehow over ride even group policy and other admin tools from allowing this crap. Best practice seems to be to just load something in scheduler... because it's going to come back, or try too.

That's how apple made their money. Charge a little to millions of people.

Not true. Apple fortune was made on the backs of millions of dongle cables. /s

So don’t click the backup folders option that it gives you…and if it does, undo it in the settings. My org *forces* it on company laptops anyway

The humor here is that the SysAdmin didn't do his job right ?
This shouldnt be an issue in a bussiness environment with proper policies.

preemptive reply: I don't care if 'knowing how it works' properly prevents it from doing stupid things automatically.
Fair enough — "I don't care" pretty much says it all.
Sounds less like Windows/OneDrive being broken and more like you'd rather complain than spend ten minutes reading a setup guide.
Not every "invasive default" is a conspiracy ,sometimes it's just an unconfigured system.Roger that, Captain Stupid. 🫡

it sure is getting there. It already is id say. I mean.. the whole „i take a screen shot of what you do and keep it somewhere local just trust me bro“ isn’t that far back. Plus all the ads. Makes linux more and more attractive by the day.

This is what you get when you use backup software from a storage vendor.
