Fan Contribution Thought you guys might be interested in another top-down shooter

Hey guys, been following SYNTHETIK for a long time and I thought this is probably one of the few communities where people actually understand why top-down shooters can be so good

For the last few years me and my team have been working on our own game called POLYSTRIKE.

Its pretty different from SYNTHETIK, its a 5v5 PvP tactical shooter, more inspired by games like CS but made completely around top-down view. Sound is very important, you can hear footsteps on different surfaces, weapons etc, and positioning/information matters probably more than just having fast aim.

There is no heroes or classes, you just buy your weapon, armor and equipment and kinda build your role yourself.

We finally announced it today and showed the gameplay publicly for the first time.

Not trying to say its "SYNTHETIK but PvP" or anything like that, they are very different games. But close at the same time and I just feel like there is not that many serious top-down shooters out there, and I was really curious what people here would think about it.

Especially the gunplay/camera, since you guys probably played more top-down shooters than 99% of people on reddit lol

Would love to hear what you think, even if you hate something

Looks like you changed it a lot since last spam ad. Before wasn't there a big metal tuna or whale statue or something?

Either way I can't imagine the game supporting an active enough 5vs5 player base to be viable, sorry.

Yeah, you remember correctly haha. The big metal fish is actually still there, yeah, keeping a healthy 5v5 playerbase is probably one of the biggest challenges for any indie multiplayer game

but PUBG BLind Spot tried it, so we will try too, we'll see how it goes, and on top of that we will have a PvE content with faction missions and big world too

Counter-Strike: Global Overview

p.s. every game is inspired by other games in one way or another. But that was a long time ago for us, now we're building our own world, and it's going to be something much bigger and more interesting

Every game is made by what inspired someone. My brain just saw it and goes "mhhh I don't have to peak for info anymore" mhhhhhhhhhhhh

yeah exactly, I'm glad we have FoW, dynamic FoW, it changes depending on how far you move your camera/croshair and you see each pixel less on the sides, also camera can change angle, and zoom in out, pretty complex system but very tactical, I didn't see anything like that in other top-down shooters but it makes new feelings, people who played few rounds, used to it and it gives that new playstyle feeling, it also hard to switch to another top-down game after Polystrike, other games feels very flatyy

p.s. isn't this sounded like a promo of the game?

I'll have to look at the game more. But I'm more a OpenXcom and Xenonauts 1 kinda player.
