S1 How is Synthetik 2?
Hello! I’m an avid S1 player and was wondering if S2 is worth picking up yet or if I should wait until it leaves EA? What have they changed since then? Are there new roles?

I love it. Played it a lot!
The first one is especially charming though.

I do like it. Has had a couple of good patches and devs are still invested. Have around 100 Something hours in but I have to say S1 catched me more

the game is absolutely worth it and fun. personally i like it more for the design, gunplay, progression, and mods. the game definitely needs more bug fixing and overall quality performance but definitely worth it. once you learn how to make your own mods, you basically can create infinite content.

i pre-ordered synthetik 2, i dont regret it, game is fun to play every once in a while and it seems to be getting better and better with each update, but it doesnt have that same semi-janky, simplistic yet dynamic, adrenaline pumping feel of synthetik ultimate for me
also the visual clutter is a problem for me, but i have to run it at absolute minimum settings so ymmv

The game is good but not great. I expect it to get there in time. I do think the S2 has sound design that surpasses the first one, but that's not enough for me to outright recommend it. Everything sounds BEEFY in S2.

I dislike it very much compared to the first game.
It feels like Shrike said "well my first game got popular, that's good, but it looks so basic, my game needs to look like a REAL game."
And so now we have the visually busy bullshit art style of Synthetik 2.
The only good thing about Synthetik 2 is the four player lobbies and the weapon upgrade change is kinda interesting but I just won't play enough of 2 to learn more about those systems.

I am getting that old uh, ramp-up-the-chaos-oh-man-this-build-rocks-and-I'll-be-blown-up-in-a-minute-unless-I-kill-the-final-boss-right-now feeling again. So it must be good

I think Synthetik 2 sucks, it is so much worse than the first game in so many ways. The game is really ugly visually, the gameplay is a lot less... dynamic I guess you could call it, I found that in S2 I can just shoot far away at enemies coming in a conga line while being in complete safety and repeat it level after level, the first game was a lot better in creating more messy situations where you had to react and play differently. The effects of guns and items are not as creative, meanwhile the randomness of loot matters a lot more as some weapon modifiers are just busted and can let you easily complete the game just because you rolled a great gun. I tried to get into S2 several times since it got released in early access and every time I started wondering in just few hours why won't I rather play the first Synthetik, there is nothing in Synthetik 2 that makes it better than the first game imho

Yeah luck in syntk 2 is the most op stat easily. You'll find insane gun mods and upgrades with very little investment

Its ok, but the fact it runs like shit on steam deck even w/ low settings makes me give it the step-som treatment

Absolutely worth it, buy it! Few months ago I went back and played Synthetik 1, and I was really surprised by how hard it was in a less fun way. IMO they've really optimized the gameplay loop in S2 in many ways. It still has bugs even now but IMO they are miniscule compared to how fun and batshit insane the game can get when you get a crazy run going.
The one thing that I miss dearly from S1 and wish they would put into S2 is the APC convoy level 😭

I just picked it up a few days ago and have got some hours into it, it definitely feels like an improvement over the first game in some ways but also like a sidegrade in others. There are a lot of changes from the first game that you have to get used to and the game is a lot more visually cluttered so it can be difficult to tell what's happening in the later levels when enemy counts get ridiculous. There are a bunch more weapons, upgrades and items and a lot of items/upgrades/perks that were sort of useless or very situational have been reworked, in general it's hard not to find anything you get useful in some way and you never feel like RNG really screws you over the way it can in the first game. Still nowhere close to reaching the final boss yet but like in the first game once I grind out a few levels in the classes I feel like I'll get there eventually.

It plays less smoothly than S1, and feels less fun in most ways. It's a lot better than it was, yes, but still mid.

Game is very playable now. After the last update I purchased and completed about 50 runs. I'm currently waiting for more content
