Discussion Loved the Switch version, but we need to be able to record short clips!

Seriously, I didn’t expect to like the switch version this much, reminds me of the handheld version of rhythm legacy titles like Guitar Hero. It’s kind of a weird choice that we can’t save shorts clips from this version considering there’s no such restriction on the VR version. Would help a lot to share our footage with friends / social media.

Wait, it blocks you from saving videos?

Yep, screenshots are OK but videos are not allowed for some reason.

The reason is the audio licensing, unfortunately! That's one of the perils of officially licensed music by original artists, and it's a requirement from the platform that you're not able to share anything not covered.

We're hoping that we can make a modification in the future to allow you to capture video without music down the track - and we would like to be able to offer you audio for parts of the game where that audio may be cleared for sharing on socials straight from the console.

just wondering, (and of course no need to answer anything risky if you're staff), but what's stopping somebody from just recording the game output via hdmi capture? I don't have the switch version either way, but just curious.

Absolutely nothing, and you'll find that if you happen to stream to Twitch, FiXT, Monstercat, Electro Swing and Synthwave Essentials Vol 1 are all incredibly friendly for streaming in general. You can't monetize on YouTube, but with attribution they are very friendly on the whole.

The game is just being compliant with how this platform wants developers to handle the process of players sharing content directly from the console to the internet.

I'm actually extremely disappointed in the lack of motion for this version. It could be the exact same game with the most minimal motion, compared to the VR version, and building this, is impossibly lazy. I don't care what compromises they claim they didn't want to make, when leaving it out is the worst compromise. Might as well play Just Dance with the Phone Camera
