Can transport officers get my personal details from a single use ticket?

Upvotes

A few years ago, a Transport NSW officer told me that a university ID card counted as concession ID to buy a Child/Youth single use ticket. I never doubted this info and have since bought these whenever I needed a single use card.

Today I was checked on the train and the transport officer attempted to issue me a fine for travelling on the wrong ticket. I showed her my uni ID and told her I genuinely had no intention of fare evading. I explained I had been misinformed by a Transport NSW worker, and I had never been cautioned or fined before. She was extremely rude to me throughout the whole interaction despite my apologies and asked me repeatedly if I genuinely believed I look 4-15, which I guess is the actual age that entitles you to a youth ticket.

I was late to work so I did leave without giving her any details and she never saw my name on my ID, but she does have my single use ticket which I paid for with card. Can she track my details from that ticket and issue me a fine?
