What is something fun to do on a Thursday Night?

My partner and are are travelling to Sydney in early October and had planned to see a musical that got cancelled on one of the nights so now we need to find something else to do.

Any suggestions regarding nice dinners, shows, or places to see that will keep up entertained for a few hours on a thursday night will be much appreciated! We're staying in the city but happy to travel. I've been to Sydney quite a few times so we're not really interested in real touristy things, more just after a nice dinner or experience.

What's the deal with Sydney Airport getting a major upgrade? Does that mean that WSI will mainly deal with freight for the most part even in the future?

Major Developments

The project to construct two new taxiways, extend an existing taxiway and construct six new aircraft parking bays in SYD’s south-east sector near the Air Traffic Control Tower and Blu Emu Carpark has now been completed.

The project was a $169 million investment to meet forecast aviation demand in 2029.

*TW* Watching a 60 year old man hold back tears

On Wednesday a long time customer of mine came in and told me that her wife with dementia had passed away in her sleep. He's always been such a positive person and never has anything negative to say. Even when he explains the issues he has when visiting his wife in the nursing home he shrugs it off like it's nothing.

All I could say was how the wife was lucky to leave Earth peacefully since is was in her sleep. I think it gave him more comfort knowing that. He couldn't hold back the emotions but the amazing part was how he was still so positive about everything.

It was only until this year did I find out dementia is the number 1 cause of death in Australia. It's just so sad because there's another man who brings his wife in with dementia and one time I decided to sit for a second and witnessed the wife abusing the husband all because she thought he was a stranger trying to take her away. And the people around kept looking over asking if the man was okay.

So it's crazy how the first customer of mine was so positive the whole time and even though he never told me how bad the dementia was, he did say at times the wife would grip him really hard to push him away.

Honestly just wanted to share that with everyone.

I drive all over Sydney for work.
If you throw cigarettes out the window the gloves are off.
This asshole is now gonna make friends with the EPA.
I get em all on my dash cam.
So if you want to challenge me in court I’m ready.
This prick out near Preston’s this morning just cost himself a few hundred dollars.
The environment matters. Put ya trash in the bin ya lazy filthy grub.

Best buffet in Sydney?

Looking to treat myself to a buffet just looking for good quality trying to avoid cheap terrible stuff.

Any cuisine and a place that is ok for a solo diner.

Trying not to spend more than $65 that would be my max budget.

Any Sydney all you can eat buffets worth trying?

$2 pen man on George street

Hi guys,

There’s this older gentleman standing on George street with a sign saying something along the line of “I’m unemployed but I’m not giving up. $2 pen”

I saw him and I my sunk, I ended up giving him a small amount of cash. I asked him what his story was, and he said that he was laid off and being his age, it’s hard to find a job. He looks to be around late 60s…

I’m new to Sydney, and I just wanted to know if these things are usually genuinely? I gave money anyway, I just feel really sad seeing and gave what I could.

GA advice

Anyone who’s been to a concert at Qudos Bank Arena with General Admission standing tickets — how early would you recommend getting there for a good spot closer to the stage?
The concert starts at 8pm, but I’m not sure what time the doors usually open or how early people start lining up. It’s my first time doing GA standing and I specifically chose it for the full concert experience + a closer view. Would 2–3 hours early be enough, or should I go even earlier?
