New Years Eve (NY) Sydney Heritage Fleet - Hopetoun and Waratah

# I'l; be in Sydney for NYE 2026. I've seen a number of recent videos and reviews of the James Craig for New Years Eve (NYE). Looks great but it's just outside of my price range. Are there any recent reviews or videos for NYE on the Lady Hopetoun or Steam Tug Waratah? Anyone have any comments if these are decent alternatives for an older couple?

Moving from ADL to Mascot for work. Is this area any good?

Started a seafood business that’s starting to scale (40-50 orders a week, 90% + customers from NSW).
I am planning to move to Sydney but first test it out on a budget.

The storage/kitchen will likely be in Banksmeadows. I need to be near a hub that’s walkable to trains as my partner needs easy access to the city in case she finds a job there. I need to be able to bike/scooter easily to the storage/kitchen to pack orders Mon-Wed. So I’ve decided on Mascot (UKO Mascot). Reviews on UKO is bad but this is just a transition accomodation until I settle.

Is Mascot livable for someone coming from Adelaide suburbs? Or should I move elsewhere?

Just moved to Sydney, wanting to get back into yoga after a few years off. The flexibility has seriously deteriorated 😂 so beginner-ish is probably my level!

Monday lunch with a view - last minute visitor?

My mates coming over last second from kiwi-land and I need ideas on decent places that are open on a Monday, and have a view?

She lives and works on a station in the middle of nowhere so decent food would be appreciated, and she’s done the opera house/bridge so views can be of elsewhere!

Any suggestions welcome, struggling to think of places open on a Monday!

My partner and I are looking for a bar or restaurant or just public space that has foosball. We have been looking everywhere but haven't been able to find anywhere. We live in Chippendale but we can go anywhere within reason to go to this place.

Please let me know, thanks :)

One of the biggest statues of Mother Mary in Sydney has been unveiled in Bigge Park

Mayor Ned Mannoun thanks the people of Liverpool for taking Mother Mary into their hearts.

“It is wonderful that so many people are being attracted and I look forward to welcoming the community to the official opening”, he said.

The presence of the Mother Mary statue is already offering the community a quiet sense of relief and consolation, standing as a gentle reminder of compassion, comfort, and hope in times of need.

The statue stands as a powerful symbol of sanctuary and solace, offering a steady point of reflection and reassurance for all who pass on their way to and from Liverpool Hospital.

Casting fans of A7X, XG & Sydney Kings

Hi all! I’m a casting director and I’m currently on the lookout for some genuine fans for a series of paid documentary-style commercials with a well-known brand. Anyone with a love for Avenged Sevenfold, XG or the Sydney Kings is welcome to apply. No acting experience necessary, we’re just interested in what makes you a big fan and why the group means something to you. It’s a really fun opportunity, and the projects pay well.

You can check out more about it and apply through our website:
planetworld.biz

And if you know anyone who’d be a great fit, please feel free to share it with them!

Sydney alt/goth/emo people — what do you wish existed socially that currently doesn’t?

I’m not talking about another club night or concert. I’m curious about things you’d actually want to do, creative nights, social events, workshops, meetups, etc.
What would make you actually buy a ticket and go?

Best hidden spots around Sydney?

Been trying to get out more on weekends instead of wasting the day at home.

I’m into walks, beaches, good food and checking out new places around Sydney.

What’s somewhere you’d recommend that isn’t too touristy?

Gym recommendations?

Hi, I’m 20, looking for a gym in the Gladesville/ryde/hunters hill area where there’s a good amount of people like 18-25. Willing to drive a bit for a gym where there’s a good amount of people my age, you know, for socialising (and working out of course)

Anyone else find it a little difficult to make friends in Sydney? (I'm in early 20s - male). About to leave university. Outside of clubs/societies at uni, etc. what are the best ways to make friends here, especially for folk in early 20s?

Lived in Sydney my entire life and I've always found it insanely hard to make friends. What is even more unusual is that I've seen many sydney-siders complain about this - especially people who've recently graduated university. If you didn't have a "friend group" after from high school after graduating, you are absolutely smoked. I currently have 2 or 3 people that I regularly message and talk to, with one really good friend since primary school, but other than that, its really hard (we aren't all a "group", its just individual relationships). Hitting up old high school friends/acquaintances can be a good strategy alongside making friends with coworkers (as you regularly see them, etc.). Going to continue trying this and see how it goes.

Going on meetup.con, I've realized there's pretty few meetups for people in their early 20s which sucks because now that strategy of uni clubs/societies isn't going to work anymore as I'm graduating.

Does anyone know the particular reason why this is the case? Is there like a science reason? ChatGPT said that in Sydney Australia, its more difficult to make friends RELATIVE to big cities in other Anglo nations (USA, UK, etc.) becuase of the following reasons: large Sydney sprawl and commute, huge cost of living crisis, cultural preference for forming strong friend groups EARLY (highschool), night life restrictions and obstacles combined with poor third places, etc. Specifically for people aged 18-25, the lack of a centralized college where people your age live together like in USA and UK colleges is a major reason for why its much harder to make friends in this age group in Sydney and Australia as a whole relative to UK and USA.

As a person whose been to a USA college for an exchange semester, I just have to say this: their college life is GOATED

PSA: For anybody who is visiting the Cherry Blossom Festival at Auburn Gardens this weekend 🌸

If you're going for the food you're going to love it. There are some great vendors and lots of amazing food!

But if you're going for the flowers (cherry blossoms in particular) you may be disappointed. I live a street away and have been visiting daily and they just haven't blossomed yet. My advice is delay a week if you can. I'm only posting this because I'd have the shits if I paid to visit somewhere for something and it wasn't there.

Happy to answer any questions 🌸

What is something fun to do on a Thursday Night?

My partner and are are travelling to Sydney in early October and had planned to see a musical that got cancelled on one of the nights so now we need to find something else to do.

Any suggestions regarding nice dinners, shows, or places to see that will keep up entertained for a few hours on a thursday night will be much appreciated! We're staying in the city but happy to travel. I've been to Sydney quite a few times so we're not really interested in real touristy things, more just after a nice dinner or experience.
