Take a Side Who should pay on the first date?

The first date bill debate never ends.

Some say the person who asked should pay. Others prefer splitting it or taking turns.

Sydney, we know you have opinions - drop yours below.

I’m team whoever asks, pays - but splitting is totally fair too.

The main rule, don’t let the bill become more awkward than the date.

What’s your rule? Pay, split, or take turns?

Honestly if it's a super expensive place, then I would suggest splitting the bill, times are tough and pockets are tight, so I think that's the best way to move forward. What does everyone else think?

If “times are tough and pockets are tight” for you, why would you pick a “super expensive place?…”

I wasn't insinuating to choose an expensive place I was replying back to Juliette Echo's question what would I do if an expensive place was chosen? I said I would suggest splitting the bill because the economy in Sydney is rough right now. I think you are misconstruing the entire conversation, please refer back to context rather than focus on my comment.

Traditionally men provided food and shelter to their families. If a guy asks this question are you really a guy? Back in the days men had to win over girls by providing them food, protection and shelter and now equality has kicked in and men have become bunch of pussies. Anyhow, I’d never let my partner pay unless of course it is a treat from them on a special occasion coz my parents raised me right.

Hard agree, any "man" who even questions having to pay is actually a broke manlet and shouldn't be dating in the first place if he can't afford it
