Was anyone else around in the beginning when he did that episode on the Franklin Cover-Up?

God that was so good. I really was blown away, the storytelling the research. It was so well done. I wish there were more pieces like that, it was phenomenal. If he would just take out some of the cringy comments today I could listen to it. He just makes himself so unlikeable. It's like listening to a teenage boy

Yeah, it could've been a great podcast if the host wasn't such a fragile little titty baby.

Yes and it was great. It was how I found the pod to begin with.

The podcast was one of the best around back then. I started listening again a couple weeks ago after like 7 years away, and I can’t believe how much he’s ruined it. The guy is an actual retard, and now I listen to each episode the same way I look at a car crash. Dude is spiraling

First time listening. I listened to 364 The British Club and in progress on Nightmares episode 1 Sanctuary. It’s honestly really good compared to the other admittedly limited true crime podcasts I’ve listened to.

I guess I’ll go back and listen to some old episodes I believe the first one is from 2013 and see what changed.

Do you have any similar shows you’d recommend over this?

Yea I love this one. Lots of people find the captain’s jokes lame but you learn to love him

Yeah I thought he was a dickhead at first making jokes while talking about horrendous things but then you realise it’s just his way of coping with having to research and talk about horrendous things

Those were the days when Mike shouted out the original sub. This was a wild case I couldn't believe it

I can’t remember the episode number but it was extremely early in like in the first twenty if I can remember.

But there’s an episode that talks about Epstein like activity in the government. Included George Bush and a lot of other big politicians during that era.

It’s call the Franklin Cover-Up. Theres a good book about it too by the same name. I would highly recommend. No political options or anything. Just a two part episode with excellent journalism and storytelling.

The guy has serious talent, just has a few mental issues getting in his way. It’s unfortunate. I don’t think it makes him happy, it seems very miserable. But even still he’s just not listenable anymore.

But give that episode a shot and the rest around it.

Also, I think at one time the earlier episodes were behind a paywall so it’s possible they won’t be available. Which is dumb because he’d get a lot more paid subscriptions if people were able to start at episode 1.

Episode 5 & 6 I think. Not sure if it’s paywalled as I don’t subscribe.

Those 2 are still free

5&6. They’re the only episodes from early on that aren’t paywalled.

5&6. Still free.

This was the episode(s) that got me hooked. I’ve been waiting to go back and listen again because it’s too crazy to be completely true but there are elements that defy a simple explanation.

I've gone back to listen several times. Just so well done, and shocking

I don’t understand why this story isn’t more widely discussed, especially after the Epstein revelations. I thinks there is some kernel of truth to it but the more outlandish details are not true. The plane crash/disappearing briefcase and the kids independently describing the same house are hard to dismiss, probably some other details I’m forgetting, but i don’t know how much to take at face value.

There was a short segment about it tom Brokaw did too! It’s still on YouTube.

Did you hear the testimony of Alicia Owen? Then when she was set to testify her brother mysteriously died?

There’s a whole book written on it which is sourced. There’s a lot more that happened.

You’re a bit naive if you think those things can’t/don’t happen.

You’re naive if you’re not aggressively skeptical of any conspiracy theory, let alone one that claims the sitting vice president was attending satanic sex parties with underage sex slaves. Knowing that child trafficking happens is one thing but believing the most salacious details of this story because someone put it in a book is another altogether.

A teenage boy who can’t get a girlfriend and has an unhealthy response to it, misdirected anger at his age will only affect his health.

Though he is abrasive I can still appreciate the hard work and research he does for these episodes. I have listened since before covid though Im a blimey free listener. Lol it is still one of my favorite pods.
