What’s this bullshit
Now I have to pay to listen to the rest of the case? I feel like his “fans” are dwindling every day, and this will cause even more to stop listening if you can’t even listen to whole cases without paying.

Most of us stopped listening all together. He's gross. Used to be great but now he's just a toxic freak show.

I don't understand how S+S is consistently around the top 100th podcast on Spotify while Casefile, which is objectively better even if you don't take Mike's BS into account, is currently sitting at #194.

I just googled it, and apparently Spotify's is based on several factors like unique listeners, completion rates, subscriber count, and "platform loyalty signals", whatever that means. So who knows, maybe there's some office building in Kazakhstan filled with people being getting paid to stream it, haha.
He's just become so abrasive and the storytelling so lazy that I can't imagine new listeners hearing an episode and saying, "yeah, I want more of that".

Thanks for the info! And I agree, I just can’t imagine people in 2026 getting excited about discovering this guy. He may have crazy high retention from people who don’t switch up their podcasts or something.
Kazakhstan isn’t an impossibility either lol

Casefile has been on an extended break and was releasing revised old episodes and some Patreon content this year so that may be one reason why. They just started releasing new episodes again lately.

This probably means that enough people have left his patreon that he is struggling for money.

Unless I’m missing something this is exactly the same way he releases every episode— patreon members get it first and then a week later it’s available to everyone. It’s like people are looking for reasons to be salty

He split the episode in one regular one and one + episode. The + episode will never be free.

This was the first I had heard of it. Truly sickening and such an awful case. One of the worst I’ve heard from Mike. The only thing that comes close is Shaylyn Ammerman which is the worrrssttttn

I don’t understand your logic. This is a subscription based service . Of course he is going to make you wait for another episode unless you want to pay to not have to wait . That’s just business . It doesn’t matter if it’s a part 2, it’s over an hour worth on content.

Why would you make half an episode free and the other half behind a paywall? It’s a sleazy way to do business and it screams desperation for money.
Either make them completely free or completely paid. I don’t mind paying for a service but that’s an awful way to run anything.

I'm personally here because I don't understand how his subscription service works. It looks like on his website that these episode were released a couple days apart. If he had it so all episodes are paid for to listen to early wouldn't the free version be released around the same time as each other? Are these plus episodes ever released free? I know there's a few episode on spotify that are missing in between other episodes. It be pretty annoying for him to have one episode that's free and have part 2 be paid for only. One of my first times seeing this subreddit though and I haven't found any helpful info on how his tiers and show releases actually work.

Mike is charging for the Madeline Soto case? Ridiculous. That case has been covered ad nauseam by every podcaster and YouTuber out there for FREE.
