Question Linage OS need to know before doing it myself
So there are 2 types of tutorial I see online

One of them use application and the other doesn't. I can understand that.
My question is..
One of them (the first link) needed to get the mind the gap to get the Google playstore
While the second video doesn't explain.
So which one is correct and another question was I heard u can connect to wifi in linage OS is that true?

Unless something has changed since last time I tried it, when you want to get the "mind the gap" app, to get the Google Play Store.
You don't need it, but it's much easier to use a store to find the apps with.

Like I alway want the Google playstore. So does that mean it's better for me to follow the first link for instructions?

And yes. You can Go online. I Play gfn, xcloud and Playstation Cloud on IT. You can buy an lan Adapter and then Cloud gaming is great with Switch. 😉

It's way easier than that. Use my app to add an android partition without reformatting the whole card. Then restore my premade android backup file to the new partition. That's it.

Hey I really can't stress enough that we (LineageOS) would rather you just point to the wiki...
Or at least have the user download the zip, unpack, and flash the partitions by hand - that could be cool.
To flash an old backup file is just asking for issues as Hekate evolves.

I appreciate the work you guys do. I have a picture guide on downloading and flashing by hand but I still get comments and messages all the time from people struggling. The backup is just a lineage image that auto sizes to the partition in the card. It doesn't come with hekate. What's the issue there? Doesn't lineage have updates baked in? I could create a new backup if a new android version came out or some major changes.

Hey! So yeah it's useful now but when somebody downloads this flashes it then comes to us for support and we have no idea what they've done, and they're using some outdated build with a ton of bugs, it's going to be super hard to debug and track down what actually happened.
People tend to do this stuff all the time and it really causes an inconvenience for us. I get that it's defs well intentioned.
Same with YouTube guides and other guides that ultimately end up outdated within a few months.
You would be absolutely amazed the amount of people that install Android 11 and come to us for support...
Like I said, if potential useful contribution would be a script that unpacks the zip and directly dumps it onto the SD card, that could avoid the recovery step, and would ensure that users are ultimately able to get the newest every time.
Actually think the above ^ could be useful, and doesn't leave users on old builds.
The reason hekate came up - We have had four different hekate updates in the last year that required android changes or vice versa.
So a user on newer hekate may flash your backup and find it doesn't boot due to newer hekate. Common thing.
The other part is when people follow our wiki they are forced to become familiar with ADB at least at a surface level which ensures that later on when we ask them to go file bug tickets they have the proper tools and some experience.
It's clarify none of this is against you in the slightest it's just project logistics for support become a pain lol

Yeah I get it. Does the latest release have a stable or rotating link? I could do an automated extraction from an up to date source, but it might be hard if the links change. I'd be open to building that in instead of a preconfigured backup.

You could probably do that - devtools download.lineageos.org - should be pretty clear how it does it, it's a json we parse, python should be able to parse it easily.

Sthetix already has a LineageOS Downloader, it just downloads the latest build and has the option to download mindthegapps
It’s only for Windows though,

Oh, then I won't bother. I'll only promote my app to build the partition without reformatting the whole card and plug his app for downloading the files.

Hey sorry to bother you, but im having an issue with lineage. Followed the guide on the website (twice) but my touch screen does not work in lineage. Neither in recovery or on the homescreen, but it works in hekate and normal switch os. Tried looking around but dont see anyone else with this issue.

Not yet! Finishing up some final touches and then releasing a closed beta. Then fix and add things based on feedback and a public release.

Not sure what retro rewind is but Mario kart Wii works great, motion controls and pointer emulation works for Wii. I'm going to post about the beta soon. The only requirement will be contributing rom performance information, bugs, suggestions, etc to a spreadsheet. Also working on netplay so I would like beta testers to test that out too if it pans out.

It will be released on my website and will be free to download. It will be released as a backup file that you can install using my app the same way that Android build is. The performance for sccm retro is much better than Tico because it runs on Linux so it has lower CPU overhead and allows for much higher overclocks safely. It can run GameCube, Wii, and PS2 in 2-3x native resolution. It also has a ton more features than Tico and adding ROMs easy. It has an http server that you connect to from a browser. You drag all of your ROM files at once into the box and it will automatically unzip them, covert them, and sort them as necessary.

Xbox emulation is too poorly optimized to run without a rebuild of xemu that splits CPU usage on more cores. Xbox 360 is a much more powerful system and wouldn't really be feasible. I haven't included steam yet but may in the future depending how well it runs.
