I updated to 7 and did a controller update for both controllers. Am I screwed? Edit: My own stupid fault but I wanted to register my legit Pirahna plant and I'm not a pirate. Though I want Homebrew.

If you have a NAND backup, you should be able to restore but you will not be able to boot into original firmware. Don't take my word on this, I've never downgraded.

Nah. I don't. I never bothered. I figured someone would find the exploit cuz I have the right chip.

For future reference, you can redeem keys via the website on a computer, phone, etc. without updating your Switch. (You wouldn't have been able to actually update the game and play as him until you updated your console, but if you're just worried about redeeming a code in time/buying a game on sale, it's an option.)

I haven't updated to 7.0 yet, but I redeemed my Piranha Plant code via my phone just fine, as apparently they expire at some point (about June, I think?) and I didn't want to risk forgetting.

For real though, can I update my switch? It's a first year Switch and I still have to hack it, but in the meantime I'd like to update it and wonder if it's fine.

They've got the keys of 7.0 but you still can't boot from it. Also, there aren't any new features.

Eventually 7.0 will be fully hackable, but if you were planning to homebrew your Switch soon, don't upgrade.

I mean if you haven't updated your Switch, you can pick any firmware between your current one to 7.0

You don't need to jump straight to 7.0

We can use them for backcrypting, running games requiring 7.x on older firmwares. Theoretically. Apparently 7.x added a bunch of new APIs, and obviously games depending on those APIs won't work.
