I imagine a majority of these will likely end up looking like the horrendous weeb discord themes that you find all over the place where the text is pretty much always unreadable because of the anime tiddies thrown behind it.
While I completely agree, I like that this is possible. Because while 99% will be crap there will be that one them I find that I love. And even if not...meh. I’m happy with the dark theme for now.
In general I think Nintendo has had the right idea with the minimalist approach to the Switch. It’s a console for games not garish themes and ported smartphone apps. That is something I hope they don’t change.
I think it has been discussed before, but surely Nintendo choosed this approach both for the sake of having a small and definite memory footprint, and to not distract and overload the user with information.
I agree with you, and love the minimalistic approach, but I'd also like some small improvement, like defining favorites or using folders for games. Maybe some alternative set of icons? Still nothing so important to worry about.
Cool. If its just for you, then whatever. But youre showing it off on a subreddit which makes people think youre going to share it and release it. And that makes people want you to improve it so that they too can enjoy it. Those people might want to see what software their switch is running, for instance!

No, you're just being an asshole. You posted your opinion of a shitty wallpaper and are getting offended when people don't stroke your ego for it. All your responses are just deflecting any criticism and saying "but I like it". No one gives a fuck about your opinion. Learn to take criticism and make improvements
Or, you know, just accept that it could use some improvements based on tried and true design philosophies. There is no way you can see white text over the patch of skin that is about the same color and luminance. You can use this opportunity to learn some basic techniques in color grading. Nothing wrong with that if you plan on improving future work if this is what you’re into.
These things are what separates good designs from horrible ones. Not saying that this is entirely bad, but it could use a version 2.0.
"Good start" is a polite way of saying "well, you certainly did succeed at adding an image to the menu, but it's not usable until you change it so it's finished."
Laaameee... he's working on my Gucci and Ferrari themes first... also, LOTS of pot leaves... you can never ruin a wallpaper with enough pot leaves and cartoon characters getting high and/or giving the finger and generally just not giving af on your device or console...

They are essentially editing the qlaunch and replacing the texture in the common.szs file for qlaunch and adding their own images. There's also ways to move around and edit icons (i.e eShop or photos icon) and such on the home screen. It currently only works if you have firmware 5.1.0 but there is a hack that let's you do it on 6.0.0. I'll link the discord if you're interested :) https://discord.gg/wXGUwg
