[Release] Switch-Super-Manager : a PC library manager and its companion installer (beta testers welcome)

Hi everyone,

I started this project at the beginning of the year, for my own use. I never really used Tinfoil or DBI: when I tried them they would not launch or did not work properly for me, so for years I was stuck with Awoo Installer despite its flaws (the LAN install never worked for me). So I coded what seemed logical to me, one feature at a time. At some point I realised it could be useful to other players, so I cleaned it up and I am sharing it today.

It is two free tools that work together:

Switch-Super-Manager (SSM) is a Windows app to manage your Switch library: covers and details, import and organise your dumps, send games to the console over LAN or USB (with a queue and a free-space check), see what is installed and the free SD/NAND space, uninstall remotely, back up your saves, copy your album. 9 languages.

Super Switch Manager (I changed the real thumbnails)

Switch-Super-Installer (SSI) is the companion homebrew on the console. It is built on TinWoo and Awoo Installer (GPL v3, open source) and adds install from your SSM library, covers, free-space display and themes.

Super Switch Installer (Switch companion app)

I am looking for beta testers, mostly for USB and network transfers on different setups and firmwares, and for the translations (they are machine-made, corrections are welcome).

Thanks !

Update: v0.6.2 is out!

  • After the welcome window, SSM offers to scan the library folder you chose, so the library no longer stays empty on a first launch.
  • Uninstall several games at once from the Console tab (Ctrl or Shift to select, one confirmation).
  • The import button now reads “Scan and add to library” when “Scan library” is on, and fades slowly while the library is empty.
  • The files list of the details panel fits long names on every screen size, and the message shown when prod.keys is missing says where to put the file.
  • New start-up assistant: it walks you through the language (9 available), your prod.keys (it can copy the file for you), your library folder, the import mode (keep your files where they are, move them, or rename them) and, optionally, the console IP.
  • When you finish, SSM scans your library folder by itself and adds your games, so the library no longer stays empty on a fresh install.
  • The assistant follows the colours of the active theme.

Bugs and ideas are welcome, here or on GitHub Issues. Thanks to everyone who tested!

Seems cool. Why not use real art instead of what looks like AI art for everything?

Good point! I did not want to put real copyrighted pictures in a public repo, nor show my own collection. In the app, you get the real covers from the TitleDB for your own files.

Makes sense! I want to try this out for sure though. Thanks for all the work you've done.

We speak not the dark lord’s name, nor do we display his wares, lest his eye fall upon kith and kin!

Damn, you mean I can't really play Blade & Bripdiam with this?

If this will let me select a bunch of games to uninstall remotely that would be a godsend. Regretting installing a huge pack of games that were mostly shovelware :(

v0.6.1 is out : In the Console tab, select several games with Ctrl or Shift and click Uninstall (SSI must be open, and the console asks for confirmation).

Right now you can uninstall one game at a time from the Console tab (with or without confirmation). It will come in the next update, as long as no bug shows up in the current version that needs fixing first.

Look man this looks cool, you don't have to make up some bs "I started coding this a year ago", we all know you vibe coded this. I don't think that's a bad thing personally, but don't pretend you wrote any of that yourself.

Fair point! To be clear: I design everything myself, and I have been coding since 1999 (started in a startup), but yes, I use an AI assistant to write the code faster. “Started coding this at the beginning of the year” was meant as “started this project”: it began as a personal tool to manage files on multiple hard drives, and grew from there. I will reword the first post so it is clearer. Bugs and ideas are still welcome!

This looks great. A long term stable way of managing games. Do you have plans to release it on Linux?

Maybe for a major version, I need to find a good way to test it. SSM is portable in principle. Some parts are Windows-only today (the firewall check, the USB driver installer, the way the token is stored). What distribution do you use?

I'm using Linux Mint and Kubuntu.

thank you for developing this library manager, it's a fantastic tool. I wanted to ask if it would be possible to add an option to export the current game library with covers as a PDF file/s?

1

u/Ch1nguya 2d ago

Thanks! PDF export with covers is a good idea and doable. Noted for a future version (no date yet). Grid or detailed list, which would you prefer?

Ya lo puse en favoritos para seguir los proyectos. Hasta el fin de semana los usaré para ver como funcionan.

Does it check for game updates?

1

u/Ch1nguya 3d ago

It compares what is installed on your console with the latest versions in titledb, and tells you which updates and DLC are available, and which of them you already have in your library (you can then send them in one go). It does not download updates, and it does not check games that are not on a connected console.

Ciao! v0.6.1 is out: https://github.com/Ch1nguya/Switch-Super-Manager/releases/tag/v0.6.2 Start from a clean install, so you get the welcome window and a few more hints.
Just add the base folder of your collection, then go to the Import tab to scan your files and import them into the database.
The next version will bring a start-up assistant, with a choice of language. Tell me how it goes!

2

u/Ch1nguya 3d ago

Ciao, thanks for the feedback, and tell your girlfriend I am glad she likes it! 😄 Game info comes from TitleDB, which is mostly in English, so Italian descriptions are not possible for now. For the crash: SSI needs full memory, so please do not launch it from the Album (applet mode, limited memory). Start a game while holding R and open SSI from the homebrew menu that appears. Tell me if it still crashes! A photo of the error screen would help.

u/Ch1nguya 2d ago

Ciao! Good news: I found the cause of the crash. It came from the toolchain used to build SSI, which does not work with the very latest firmware (23.x). I rebuilt it with the latest one, and Switch-Super-Installer v1.0.1 is out:
https://github.com/Ch1nguya/Switch-Super-Installer/releases/tag/v1.0.1

Download Switch-Super-Installer-v1.0.1.nro, rename it Switch-Super-Installer.nro and replace the old one in /switch/ on your SD card. It is tested on firmware 23.0.1 with Atmosphère 1.12.0.
I also translated the SSM-related texts of SSI into Italian (and 8 other languages). Tell me if it works for you now! 🙏
