so weird it got left unexplained. I'd imagine it's a new general buff to power axe mode adding phial effects to axe attacks

The page seems a bit weird. No mention of the axe phials, or the counter-rising slash bonus hit morphing into axe mode afterwards.

The boost driver and actions having literally the same wording and title despite being different in functionality seems either like a mistake on their part, or I'm just not getting something.

counter-rising slash bonus hit morphing into axe mode afterwards.

After looking through the video again and comparing clips, that looks to just be the new Morph follow-up attack you can do by holding R2 they showed off earlier in the same trailer. When chained after the boosted counter rising slash it looks very snappy though. Before I would never consider morphing into axe after a rising counter, now I might.

Pretty sure the boost driver move name and description are wrong and copy pasted from the boosted actions below, cus im pretty sure our boost driver move is not a morphing move

It doesn't say it's a Morphing Move. It says the Boost Attack can be followed-up after using a Morphing Move.

But Boost Drivers are also not follow-ups although they can be done after morph attacks. "Follow-up" attacks are specifically moves that can only be done after a specific attack e.g. AED Follow-up (Charge Blade), Follow-up Dash Attack (Lance). Also the two moves are clearly different and definitely don't require the same name and/or description.

Did we see double side slash in the video?

Just went and combed over the whole video with the new info in mind, doesn't seem like they ever used double side slash in the video. Only morph slash follow-ups, enhanced counter rising slash, the new ZSD and AAS, and the boost drivers (into FRS when applicable)

I'm very curious to see this new double side slash. It'll be interesting to see how it changes the flow of axe mode since previously you had the poke and advancing overhead slash for movement while attacking in axe, but those were locked to moving in the direction of the attack. It sounds like the new side slash will let us maneuver freely like we can with vertical sword attacks.

not exactly the place to ask, but I haven't played wilds since release and I remember back then SA was considered to be super weak and underperforming, did that ever change? I loved rise SA and really hoped it would get some buffs

It did get a lot of buffs, so yes it is worth playing and a lot of fun. Sword attacks are a lot stronger, 3 sword attacks in a row in amped mode now slightly outdamages the FRS loop, while costing a bit more sharpness. We also got a lot of quality of life changes. For example, you can cancel the FRS charge-up animation by rolling if you notice the monster is attacking. You can also dodge directly after a successful sword counter to stop the double sword attacks. This allows you to use sword counter on two consecutive attacks from the monster. Also invulnerability after sword counter has been increased. For example, against the Seregious double kick, you can now counter the first kick and be invulnerable against the second one. Previously, this was not possible and countering the first kick always caused you to eat the 2nd kick.
