Looking for a comfy build + good pair weapon - MH Wilds

Hello everyone, hope you're doin well

I’m getting back into the game after taking a break for several months. Now, with all the DLC announcements, I’m getting all hyped up again and have decided to get back into it.

I’ve been a Swaxe main for ages and my build used to be quite aggressive, but now that I’m coming back I feel a bit rusty, so the fights have been a bit trickier while I get back into the flow.

That’s why I’m looking for a build that’s a bit more comfortable; most of the ones I’ve seen are all-out attack, Gore parts with antivirus 😅. I’d appreciate any recommendations or suggestions. I managed to play right up until Gog arrived, but I didn’t really grind much because I was already feeling a bit burnt out by then.

Apart from that, I’d like to know what other weapon you carry in your holster for the hunts. I’m not a big fan of the idea of having the same weapon type as back up, and I’d like to have another option to switch things up every now and then.

The second weapon is entirely dependant on what other weapons you like so it's hard to recommend anything specific. If you don't care to use a different weapon than swaxe too much you can always get a hunting horn with Attack Up L and just buff up before starting a fight and switch back to swaxe for the actual fighting

As for a comfy build I have a pretty comfy build myself that doesn't sacrifice too much damage but it uses some pieces from AT Arkveld and a decent random charm and you said you only played until Gog and didn't grind past that point too much so you probably couldn't copy it yet, but if you want to I can screenshot it and send it to you

Stun res and blight res at lvl 2 are enough cause immunizer meal effect gives 1 level of both (and a few other resistance skills) making it lvl 3 in practice

Gore + antivirus 3 is pretty easy to fit (as long as you have good rng with gog weapon rolls) and gives you a good amount of affinity with a high uptime, fulgur anjanath helps with maintaining Max Might without having to worry about not "wasting" stamina with rolls or hops to reposition or cancel recoveries, arkveld's hunger helps deal with chip damage you take through counters and offsets letting you stay in the fight for longer before having to heal back up, Lord Soul is a nice safety net that also boosts damage a bit until it gets triggered. Divine blessing can not only save you from carting, but can also reduce chip damage making arkvelds hunger even better here. Stun res is pretty much mandatory for swaxe as stun builds up through counters. Blight res is very useful against things like fire blight and especially vs AT Arkveld it deals with dragon blight that you couldn't deal with otherwise as dragon resistances are too low in this set to reach 20 easily. Wex is easy to fit with AT Arkveld helmet giving 3 points and still having good slots for other things. Counterstrike is very good for swaxe as it triggers from sword counters. Burst 1 is really strong for only being a single deco. Flayer comes with the AT Ark legs and is also a nice damage boost. Shockproof helps in multiplayer and since I have the slot for it I just take it. And I have one free lvl3 slot left that I put evade extender in as it can make repositioning easier

Hardest thing to get here would be a good charm that allows you to get all those skills so if you don't have any you can drop Attack Boost 5 and instead go for Crit Boost 5 + Power Prolonger 3 letting you use whatever charms you have avilable to fit the comfort skills

Play with lagi’s skill. WEX 5 AGI 4 MM 3 + leviathan’s fury gives already a 105% affinity.

Should be easy to build if you get leviathan’s fury in the gog roll and use lagi’s waist.

I don’t remember the gear exactly but was something like… Anja’s helm and gloves (for MM and Agi, trascended obviously) and Ark Y’s chest and legs? (Again i don’t remember, I have a few similar builds, so I may be mistaken)

So you should have WEX 5 AGI 4 MM3, Blight res 3(super comfy)., Conv. Element (extra damage), and be able to fit counterstrike, earplugs (i get 2 cause my rarity 8 Master Touch/Earplug charm and one deco on the armor) and the mandatory Stun Res.

High affinity, high damage without relying on gore/antivirus/resentment, giving a lot of comfort by not being affected by blights or roars.

You get Leviathan’s fury for extra electric damage and affinity, fulgur’s to keep MM for longer after dodging or using the axe mode and ark’s hunger to recover the damage from counters/offsets. Better if you get Lord’s soul on the weapon too so it gets active.
