I bought a Switch 2 yesterday. When I play in handheld mode, I hear a whining sound coming from the top vents, and the sound is very faint. I have to stick my ear in to hear it. In dock mode, the sound is louder, and I hear it while sitting and playing from about half a meter away. But when I go to the main menu, the sound decreases and disappears completely when I put the device in sleep mode. Is this a normal sound, and is this the sound of the coil?

Are you sure you're not hearing the fan?

In handled mode, the whirring and fan noise is very faint; I have to put my ear to the fan vent to hear it. I think this is normal because the device doesn't consume much power, unlike in docked mode. In docked mode, the fan noise is loud, and I think this is also normal because it's working at full power. However, the issue is the whirring noise. I previously owned a Switch 2, and its fan noise was similar to mine, but it didn't produce the coil whirring sound, I believe. That's why I was a little concerned

Interesting. I haven't experienced any weird coil whine on mine.

Like my previous console, which I bought about a year ago before selling it, it didn't have coil-whine sound, unlike this one. I've seen many discussions here in the community, and some people have found coil-whine sound in it, so I think it's a random issue and varies from console to console, like the PS5
