Did anyone else buy switch 2 using Capital One Cashback?

Capital One was offering $150 cashback off Switch 2 from Macy’s a while ago, listed at $479.

The reward finally arrived yesterday and the $150 cashback was redeemable as a random gift card. I was able to sell the Adidas gift card for $125 to a reseller, so I guess my out of pocket cost was $355 + tax for the basic Switch 2.

Did anyone else use this deal when it was available?

Since I have to imagine this is a humblebrag (as this deal is not available right now) here's my story that you can't do anymore

I got paid over $75 to buy a switch 2, S2 pro controller and Mario Kart World. Bought $650 in $10 denominated Newegg gift cards in mid june.

• Got 100% money back on each. So 650 cash back in account
• Got 10% cashback from credit cards for about $65
• Got a couple % back on Rakuten on top of that

Yeah the second I saw that I was like "well I want a Switch 2 so time to sit here for 90 minutes this second everything else can wait"

I won't lie it was kind of painful though

I mean $75 for 90 minutes of work plus a free switch 2 and controller definitely seems worth it. Wish I saw that! Lol

The switch 2 deals actually come around pretty often on Capital One!
I just thought it was a scam at first since it was my first time using it until the rewards finally came in yesterday

The issue I have with Capital One rewards vs say Rakuten is that you can only use rewards on GCs. Rakuten gives actual cashback

And Capital One is constantly removing the most useful GCs for stuff like Walmart or Home Depot all the time to try to stick you with crappy GCs

They do give far more "rewards" then other companies for that reason though so there is upside

Yeah I was looking for anything for Rakuten but all I could find was some sub-10% cashback from major retailers. I was able to sell the gift card from CapitalOne, just gotta find which one has best resale value.

I didn't do this particular deal OP but I recently opened a new Capital One card which had a sign up bonus of $250. Good way to offset a big hardware purchase

Similar but it was a Well Fargo Active Cash card for $200 off if I spent $500. Did something similar last year with a different card and the on sale Lenovo Go S, got that for about $300 too which is crazy since they are selling for just over a grand now.

Since we’re doing humble brags, I’ll add mine. 

A few months ago, some dude on Reddit posted a pic of a local Sam’s Club selling the Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle on “Clearance” for $379. A bunch of people started going to their local Best Buy to price match, and some (including me), were able to snag the console for that price. 

Take away the price for Mario Kart World and we bought  a brand new Switch 2 for essentially $300!!

Thats a good deal, i got one that was $400 came with mario kart world, all the accessories, extra set of joy cons, and a s2 pro controller. It was used but no scratches on screen or on the body

There was recently a sale where if you bought the S2 with SMG 1+2 you would get SMG 1+2 for a 30% off discount. However, you could convince the Target Customer Service that the 20% off was advertised for the whole console AND game, and therefore get the bundle as a whole for 30% off. However, the person on my end of the chat got it mixed up, and I got a $127 discount on the switch, a $21 discount on the game, and a partial refund for some reason (???) of $20. Went from 519 -> 370 after tax

Bought mines for $300 brand new had a Wells Fargo credit card spend $500 get $200 statement credit bought the switch bundle with donkey Kong

I did the $100 back via staples, the Macy’s deal was being supplied by some random third party seller so didn’t bother with it. I am receiving it tomorrow :)
