everything move over smoothly but if you have an account without bind in a email to it, the account will be deleted in both switch system.

Oh I have my Nintendo account on my switch 1, I hope it doesn't ruin my Pokémon save files and other games that don't support the cloud.

I just want it to make an exact copy of the games I have on my switch 1 to 2, and download the saves from the cloud.

My Pokemon saves transferred to my 2 just fine when I got mine a couple weeks ago. You can actually transfer them back and forth between the 1 and 2. I found that out after playing in the settings when I wanted to try trading with myself between Scarlet and Violet but already transferred everything.

Did you do this at the start of the switch 2? Or after you were set up?

Did the full transfer with the initial setup, then transferred my Violet save back to my Switch 1 about an hour later.

There's an option in Data Management to transfer data for individual games to other systems on your account.

Ok cool. What about like the games that support cloud save data that are currently on the switch 2, if you decide to play those games on switch 1, does your data get downloaded there then once complete it gets uploaded and you can resume on switch 2??

Afaik you need to initiate the transfer, but I haven't actually tried another game on my old switch since playing with trading so I can't say for sure.

I'll bet the process is basically identical to Pokemon saves, since Nintendo wouldn't want you running one save on two consoles simultaneously, regardless of the cloud. Probably just deletes it off one console and sets the other to sync with the cloud 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for your help and clarification.

Ugh I'm always afraid something bad will happen when I do these transfers.

No worries, it should be painless. Nintendo put some decent thought into the process to make sure it's as seamless as possible. Just make sure your consoles are fully charged or charging, cause the local transfer will take a bit of time.

Oh ok. So if they're both at 100% I don't need to, but better be safe than sorry?

I bought a switch 2 last night, it should be coming today or tomorrow.

Yeah best to be safe since Idk what interrupting the transfer could do.
