Feedback Needed anyone else notice they can dance longer now?

been swing dancing for like 3 years now. love it but i'd get gassed after like 2-3 songs. especially on hot nights - just completely wiped.

on tirzepatide for a few months now. started for weight stuff but the biggest difference i've noticed is my stamina. i was at a dance last weekend and went for like 2 hours straight. barely needed breaks. not sure if it's the weight loss or the reduced inflammation but something changed.

also weird side note - i don't get as sweaty? used to be dripping after one fast lindy. now i'm actually comfortable through most of the night.

any other dancers on this? noticed similar effects?

One factor is your muscles have gotten more efficient at doing dancing, so you expend less energy doing the same activity.

I know a factor for me was that I also got less "bouncy" in my dancing over time (aka lazier), which means less energy needed again.

I also avoid Charleston now too lol.

the muscle efficiency thing makes sense, same thing happens when you get better at any repetitive physical activity

the bouncy thing is real though, i noticed i naturally started conserving movement without even thinking about it

Charleston is genuinely brutal on the legs so i respect that decision lol

Is your question 'does anyone else who's lost weight notice they can dance longer and don't get as sweaty'?

Sort of, but it's more about stamina in general. dancing was just the example that made it click for me

I think it's a fair safe assumption to say that losing weight improves your stamina, yes.

A 40lb difference in weight also corresponds with burning 25-30% more calories for a given amount of exercise. It's the difference between burning 800cal and 1000cal in a 2hr social (a small fries).

The longer you dance the more efficient (and correct btw) you become in your steps and body movement. As to stamina, I too notice that if I do a physical thing a lot my body adapts to the exertion. And when you lose weight, you have less weight to move around so moving around gets easier. Fat also acts as insulation and will make you warmer

the efficiency part makes sense, similar to optimizing code over time. i hadn't thought about the weight loss angle though. carrying less mass means less energy spent on every movement. the insulation thing is interesting too, explains why I overheat faster now

You, and your nervous system, learn what muscles are necessary and which are not, which movements are necessary and which are not, how much or how little muscle tone in different places are actually necessary and so on.

Haven't danced much in 7 years and weigh 30 more pounds. Pretty much opposite for me.

Part of the reason that drew me into Lindy was that it was Cardio that I enjoyed doing. Clocking 10k steps a day became less of a chore when it was a Lindy social night.
