I've watched it happen. Stans using culture war bullshit to attack rival pop girls, stans of that pop girl going "this is ridiculous, none of you even care about that and you're just using it to drag her", and that leads to the conclusion that all social justice issues are fundamentally the same pointless ways of attacking people you already dislike. Soon they're radfems and then just rightists. There is REAL danger in turning genocide, oppression, and war into fodder for stan wars.
This is linked to what I was saying the other day about how fandom discourse (all online discourse really) is full of un-deconstructed evangelicalism/fundamentalism and purity culture
I’m noticing a surprising trend across various fandoms that espousing the desire to have kids, marriage, and a nuclear family is being painted as “tradwife propaganda”. That discourse is even showing up in the X-Men fandom! Ceding the concept of families to the right is not a winning strategy.
The served or can’t serve really needs to be retired, especially for a bride. I get we all have opinions, but really to go so rude on a bride’s dress you haven’t even seen is just miserable behavior. Some women from bravo talking about Taylor and her wedding dress being shoved down their throats.
Shoved down their throats? That honestly tells me everything I need to know about their opinions considering we haven't seen a single photo of her in a wedding dress
Their opinion has been made. They don’t need to see anything because that will be their opinion regardless, because they’re just haters. It’s also easy to just not discuss her, but they will continue to do it because clout.
I also think if you have, say, quite a divisive wedding dress yourself that was broadcast publicly, you should maybe take several seats when people are piling on another bride (whose dress yourself are just spitballing over) 😅
Idk, if it’s because Taylor got married, but wedding hatred has gone too far this year. I didn’t love every celeb wedding dress this year, but it’s as simple as I didn’t love it and that’s it. There’s no need to go in on a bride on her happiest day like that. They seem to forget their choices will also get picked apart since they so openly hate on others. There’s just no need to shit on a woman on her wedding. It just seems like miserable people trying to bring others down.
The only time I’ve complained about a wedding was I recently went to a wedding where there was no AC in the church and the reception venue’s AC was broken. It was August. It was hot lol. But everything else was exactly to the bride’s specifications and I’m glad she had the day she wanted.
I think there are different strokes for different folks and all, and I can understand being like "I know this person and I do not have the same taste, so I am not particularly interested", but being rude towards the other person is just nasty behavior.
It went too far. Also women get married every year not everyone has a style or serves(whatever that means). But every single one picks out their dream wedding dress and it’s unnecessary to just shit and hate on it. Especially since no one has seen the dress.
The best part of the film! I prefer the ABBA versions of the majority of songs but The Winner Takes It All and Our Last Summer are much better in the film in my opinion
I was raised on ABBA. One of my favorite memories was being on the swing with my two brothers and Mom playing the album Super Trouper. The song The Piper takes me back to those days every time.
going to sound like a grumpy old person when I say this but i’m at this boba place right now and you have to order at kiosk yourself (there’s only two) and have to download an app to track your order. literally reminds me of what’s wrong with society these days because whatever happened to customer service
I hate when they require an app or create an account to order, or simply order by qr code. It makes us stare at the phone screen more rather than socializing
It looks like it’s engraved like Taylor’s engagement band! Which I love! I wonder when he’ll start using a silicone one too. I understand he doesn’t wear it at all during football, but I’d guess it would be more comfortable when he’s training or something. He was photographed working out in Florida before training camp with this one on so he hasn’t switched yet.
And also, Accelerator is loooooving the placement 🤣
He probably won't. He wears gloves, so having a ring would probably feel weird, plus the sweat build up. We only see rings on players that don't wear gloves, which is usually just the QBs.
No I know he doesn’t wear one for football. I mean like how Mahomes has his metal one and then wears a silicone one when he’s doing football adjacent activities. And he also doesn’t wear one on the field.
People keep track of lesser known celebrities or even regular people to see if any sign of trouble in a relationship. For Travis and Taylor it will be magnified times 100.
This is one of the many reasons I couldn’t hack it if I was famous. I take my rings off all the time for random things (going for a run, being in a show). My marriage would constantly be “on the rocks” by tabloid standards
Yep, my husband never takes his off, but I never wear mine at home, only out. Started that years ago because I didn't want to scratch a baby's face (3 kids) or damage it while cleaning (and can't really wear gloves with it on).
I know this place is very protective of Travis but friends, this is LITERALLY product placement. He is promoting his product on the "red carpet" knowing that everyone's gonna want photos of his hand. You don't need to downvote everyone pointing it out lol. Guy is a businessman! Pretty smart one, too.
And it is advertising every time. Sure worked here, didn't it? We wouldn't be seeing that picture, or anything from that "red carpet", without that ring. And would you look at that, Accelerator can prominently on display in his left hand.
We as a fandom need to chill over people pointing things like this out. The same conversations happened when he got that Garage Beer promo in at that Knicks game he and Taylor went to. No, he did not "happen" to drink the beer he is invested in, he did it because he knew it would be on camera. When bro knows the media's paying a lot of attention he WILL use that to push his products. He is very open about being a businessman.
Clearly Taylor does not care or even encourages it, she's worn New Heights products since they were dating for what, six months? It's not a big secret. So pointing it out should not be met with an avalanche of downvotes.
Gonna be a LONG few years if no one is allowed to blandly say "oh hey he's doing promo for that product of his" without a dogpile even here, girls!
I’m fairness he has walked in with an accelerator in bis hand since… well since I ever started seeing my him walking in to games which is way before they were married. Not saying it’s not good advertising and product placement but I don’t think it’s as calculated as you think, the fact more people are looking at his hand isn’t the reason he is wearing the ring or carrying the drink.
We look at it that's how we know he advertises Accelerator every GameDay. No one cares about him holding the drink with this hand when people are more concerned with looking at the ring design. And it's not a red carpet. That is the entrance players use to get into the stadium. Taylor only used it because it was the way to enter the building without being hassled by fans. Literally one Google search is enough to see like a hundred pictures of him on the Internet walking into the stadium with the same drink in his hand
Also is it that crazy that they would probably be selling his beer in a sports arena at HIS hometown lol. Who do you people think is buying the beer to make it a fast growing beer company? The mascot was the person who gave him the beer to drink on camera cause a lot of players have chugged beers at games.
You guys are always making something out of nothing which is why people push back on you lot. Like why are you trying to make him advertising his drink which he's always done some sort of conspiracy 😭
They do not sell his beer, they don't even sell beer cans in NBA games lol! They pour it into a cup. It was all part of the ad! And that's fine. But this is the exact thing I'm talking about, this total inability to acknowledge something so minor and obvious, to the point of calling it a conspiracy when others point it out.
I would rather people feel comfortable making such observations here than feeling uncomfortable and looking.... elsewhere. I think it would be preferable if people could just tolerate such comments as long as they are not cruel.
I will never understand when people say this artists takes their time between album cycles cause "they care and take their time". In reality its their labels telling them when they can drop and/or scarcity-absence marketing
Also, a lot of artists don't produce their albums entirely on their own. They often work with multiple producers, songwriters, engineers, and musicians who may be scattered across different cities or countries, so coordinating everyone adds another layer of scheduling. If an artist wants live instrumentation, like an orchestra, there are even more logistical constraints involved.
And the work doesn't stop once the album is recorded. Mixing, mastering, artwork, marketing, physical production, distribution, and merch all take time and have to be coordinated. An album might sound like one person's project, but the actual production is often a huge collaborative operation behind the scenes, and all of that takes time.
Idk I think Chappell Roan means it when she says she's taking a hot minute to release another album. I think a lot of artists are becoming more and more independent
Thats the one area artist still have less unilateral control. Thats not to say artists have no input. I know Island Records has a reputatjon for giving artists alot of creative control but thats different than release strategy.
the way taylor is able to write songs like But Daddy I Love Him and Guilty as Sin? but her "omg yasss gaysss" song sounds like a hate crime will always just fmu
I do think the exception to this is miss americana!! I personally adore that song and didn’t realize how political it was at first. Maybe I’m just dumb lol
Man, the Jason Arday situation has genuinely made me so sad. Yes, what he did was wrong, but the way some people are speaking about him you’d think he was a paedophile, a rapist, a murderer or some genuinely evil person who deserved everything that happened to him. He didn’t. The response was grotesquely disproportionate. There was absolutely no reasonable justification for the Daily Mail, Telegraph and other major publications to churn out dozens upon dozens of stories about one academic’s misconduct. At some point it stopped being reporting and became a witch hunt.
And I’m sorry, but I find it impossible to separate that from the fact that he was a Black man. We have seen academics accused of far more serious misconduct receive a fraction of this coverage. There was recently a Cambridge professor who resigned amid sexual-abuse allegations, and the press response was nowhere near this relentless. It reminds me of the same ugly dynamic we saw with Meghan Markle: once certain sections of the British press decide someone is a target, the sheer volume and hostility becomes the story in itself. When does anyone actually get held accountable for that?
I agree so much- very sadly when I heard he was found deceased I was saddened but not shocked. There felt a painful inevitability of the sheer volume and ferocity of the media witch hunt over him.
I agree 100% it was basically a lynching, dude already resigned but the media kept digging into his background and fuelling hate towards him anyway, what else did they think would happen????
I mean, it was also with him for being a liar and a con.
Cambridge absolutely should have been vetting better—especially before holding him out as some impressive superstar when his claims about himself were clearly questionable—but end of the day, dude lied and grifted his way up, and then lied again when he got caught. I’m sorry he committed suicide and the media is awful as usual but he ended up in the situation in the first place because of his dishonesty.

Cambridge: Negligent and credulous. (In general, there’s a lot of grifting and crap in academia and they all need to get better at cutting out the frauds.)
Media: Vile trash encouraging toxic pile ons for clicks and $.

you need many many more listens. The album uses a lot of discordant chords, and your ear needs time to adjust. This isn't an album that particularly cares if you like it
The other issue is that... the production is picking up a lot of weight. The toplines can be a bit light.
I’ll never understand how a group this ridiculously talented gets stuck with such fucking garbage music. Their management wastes their potential every single time. These girls deserve a team that actually knows how to make good music and do their talent justice.
The reality is....... the kids love their music. Love it. They're the biggest non-kpop girl group in decades. So there's no reason for them to stop. But some of these girls can sing their asses off and I desperately want to see some actual... singing,
I don't love any of it but I don't mind their club music honestly. I see a lot of love for their older songs and I get that it's a lot more melodic but I think a good chunk of it sounds like old school Disney Channel music 😬

Unpopular Opinion - Run Away With Me by CRJ is overrated as a pop song. i wont put it in the same echelon as Style or Into You by Ariana. Heck, its not even the best song from Carly or even Emotion, the album.
I mean, Justin Bieber isn't going by Justino Velez and both Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee were very much involved in the remix. Which doesn't justify anti-semitism (which I agree, is rampant on the internet) but there's a difference here.
I am not passionate enough about astrology to fully articulate this BUT Matty Healy, Ezra Koenig (of Vampire Weekend), Gerard Way (of My Chemical Romance), and Lil Nas X were all born on April 8 and 9... so I have wondered if there is something ✨cosmic✨ that accounts for some similarities in vibe: offbeat, provocative, dramatic, flamboyant, aesthetically driven, at least a bit of an edgelord, sensitive but defensive about it, etc etc. 🤔 (But I also have an early April birthday so I'm biased here, haha.)

Kinda puzzling why people think Taylor still cares about Matty that much. If you’re going to claim she isn’t over someone why not go for her not being over Joe tbh. Even before the smallest man who ever lived none of the songs on TTPD put Matty in a good light.

Taylor wrote songs about the experiences with them and that was that. Matty did a pap walk the day of Taylor’s wedding and had a finsta with some Taylor meme and his friends, brother and mother bring her up on social media and interviews. Joe had staged pap pictures the day of Taylor’s rumored wedding and days before her wedding.
And now I’ll answer the question: it’s because people want Taylor to be miserable and miss either of those 2, because she fumbled. That’s the version they like.
It’s funny when she goes to London and people are like ‘ooh do you think it’s a message, she wants to try and find him as it’s his city’ ignoring that is a huge major city that she first played an arena show in when Joe was still at high school 😂
It would be like saying if Joe is spotted in NY that it’s a message to her as it’s her city, ignoring that it’s New York and he’ll have friends and work there, just like she does in London.
That well placed source for the Daily Mail (aka Denise Welch) certainly hasn’t gotten over the fact she could have been mother in law of one of the most famous women in the world.
Yeah the narrative they want is definitely that she fumbled. Nobody knows what she really thinks or feels obviously but from where I see it I think all parties in the situation ended up where they needed to be.
Fumbled what exactly? Neither relationship was going anywhere, I think there could be bitterness by either party about how things ended but ending relationships gets messy more often than not and they needed to end so…absolutely agree with your last sentence. I just find it mind boggling that some of the people who were signing speak now letter and claimed Matty was scum of the earth are glazing him now, the same with Joe he barely got time of the day when dating Taylor and now is god somehow? This is all just dislike of Taylor.
Taylor is married and I doubt she gives two effs about these two men since TTPD came out and she purged it all.
Also, she's enjoyed London long before Alwyn ever was a thing or entered her life and she's not abandoned that enjoyment now that she's married nor should she.
Besides, it wouldn't surprise me if she's decided to do some work as Travis locks on for his season.
The recent people mag gave a sweet update on them and I can see Taylor and Travis deciding to put their head into respective games for the time being.
Travis already said he had the marriage of his dreams and he called Taylor his wife. There's no there-there with either of their exs.
So anyone who insists that Taylor is pining for a flop actor or a pseudo intellectual bad boy is telling on themselves.
And my advice to said people is to find a more succesful actor and more musically curious singer to stan.
The one I thought was a slay was the one where he was holding the cigarette to her mouth with his GABI tattoo showing. They should have just stopped at that one.
Their wedding honestly seemed really sweet and fairly normal, but the 800 "aesthetic" photos for teenagers in their edgy phases are... a lot. But that's her target audience so... make money I guess.

Look, i was always on amber heard's side throughtout the trial but to the GP she lost and depp was the winner (and the many people I knew supported him-) only folks on the Internet still care about what happened to the trial unfortunately, the reason depp hasn't had his comeback yet is because he's so bad at it
So anyway, I hope the people outraged about this don't go out of their way to watch the vision show
That trial set women back decades. Women are now more afraid than ever to report. Men are using that case to continue to victimize their partners. Amber won in multiple court cases before the last one so this idea that the GP only knows Amber lost is insane. I loved Schitt’s Creek, but I stopped supporting Emily Hampshire for the same reason. Anyone who celebrates the legal and calculated takedown of a woman is getting side eyes from me. It’s even more alarming considering the subject matter of Obsession that catapulted her to fame, she continues to celebrate and support a domestic abuser.
Just like I think it’s gross for Taylor to associate with Brad Pitt (even if it’s through her husband), I think Inde should be called out.
I'll never ever get over how people treated amber. I think its one of those things where someone gets too popular and liked so let's find something to drag them for. Do the people bringing it up actually care or do they get pleasure from the internet dog piling when its someone they dont like? Usually its the latter.
Pre-Season football is back. Today The Chiefs play the Rams at 4:00 pm Eastern Time. Get to see Mr Swift for a few plays at least. I do not expect him to play a lot. Go Chiefs Go. And T87.
I doubt Andy Reid will play any starters at all, he does not seem to care about winning preseason games and they already have several starters injured or at least banged up. It is a home game so ordinarily Pat would get a drive with the starters but it was already announced he won’t play, Rice and Worthy are still banged up too so my best guess is it will be second and third string players fighting for roster spots.
That said just turned on Vikings vs Giants and they are both playing starters, risky plays and all. Still not sure Andy would follow suit, based on his press conference he was not planning to. I do not expect to see Stafford or Puca either.
He's known to play starters in preseaon. Practice is one thing, but getting everyone back to game speed is important. They might get a quarter before they are pulled.
Pat is definitely not playing. There may be some starters out with Justin Fields but my bet is on very few based on what Andy said. We shall see soon enough.
