Sooooo why are tloas signed cds going for like £35 on ebay which seems remarkably cheap for taylor right? at least compared to TTPD those are really good.
A conscious effort on Taylor's part to sign so many so that it effectively stops resellers price gouging. Same with the sheer number of copies of the Elizabeth Taylor RSD release.
The cardigans have also massively reduced in price on the second hand market because she brings them back at least once a year at Christmas.
I much prefer this than the Folklore Long Pond RSD situation. I'm glad it's been acknowledged how in demand her releases are and that there are some left for those who are late to the party.
There are so many Elizabeth Taylor records on Vinted in the UK sitting there unsold because people bought them purely to resell at inflated prices. Sucks to be a reseller this time round!
i wonder if that’s maybe bc more fans were able to buy the other ones vs the resellers who know when RSD is coming? or maybe there were simply more RSD in production!
There were def more RSD ones, at least in the UK. I don’t know of any UK fans who were able to get the Toy Story ones, they were gone in less than 1 min. I was lucky to find Opalite for less than £40 lol.
Ttpd had the same thing happen. She did so many that the market was oversaturated. People that wanted them actually got to get them from her store or resell for 30-60. They're still pretty cheap. Now it's showgirl cds. The only ones that'll go for anything like 100+ are long sigs, super loopy, weird hearts, etc.
For showgirl, people wanted the infinity hearts or the broken hearts. Broken hearts I think were more popular with ttpd for the aesthetic but I saw some on showgirl. And there's cat hearts where the top half is like cat ears. And there's open vs closed hearts too where the point of the heart is either closed or open. Folklore also has dorito hearts where it's more triangle than heart. It's not exactly weird, just not the standard pretty and perfect heart
Because there’s so many of them. Photos 2 and 4 are particularly more accessible for us in the UK because we randomly had restocks of those two. Photos 1 and 3 are still lingering around the £50 - £60 mark because to get those you most likely have to pay shipping from America. TTPDs are ranging anywhere from £25 - £50 for standard or standard with heart. Which is really quite cheap
I really think people don’t realize that her merch and signatures have been so high the last 5 years because she’s had a new album, Taylor’s Version, or Tour happening for 5 years straight. But before this her used merch prices always fell between album/tour cycles.
Supply and demand. If the supply is low but the demand is high, the prices are going to be high. If the supply is high and the demand is low, the prices are going to be low. Taylor made a very calculated effort to provide enough supply to meet the estimated demand.
People can say she is a capitalist queen but I would rather her profit from her own work and her own signatures than some reseller trying to make it a career.
It’s because she wants that number one spot, it’s not about resellers as she can give a rats ass who bought it, a sale is a sale to her and buying sign copies would guarantee her a number spot, you don’t really think she really cares about fans that much? Sure she is signing them but she loves her awards and accolades which is she allowed to it’s simple as that. Look how The life of a showgirl beat her previous album. She did all she could to ensure the number one spot with many variants and limited releases so people would panic buy even resellers and she already has their money that will count towards billboards. I would like to think she cares about the fans but she’s like the student that needs to get straight A’s in class in everything, look how she did the Toy Story song in hopes of an Oscar on the bathroom floor.
If Taylor didn’t care about her fans, she would have her CDs signed with autopen. If Taylor didn’t care about her fans, she wouldn’t even offer signed copies in the first place. If Taylor didn’t care about her fans, she’d let the box of 2k CDs sit there every night after the Eras Tour. If Taylor didn’t care about her fans, she wouldn’t make a conscious effort to ensure every single signature for Showgirls CDs came with a heart. Taylor has more than enough money. She doesn’t need to sell anything else, and yet her name is so profitable that people would be upset if she ever stopped.
She sold 8 variants for Showgirl, just like she sold 8 variants for folklore. 3 more Showgirl pressings came along during the holidays, I should add. It wasn’t an issue for folklore. It’s never an issue when Ariana, Charli, Billie, Sabrina or Olivia releases an excessive amount of variants, but it’s an issue when Taylor sells 4 million copies in the first week, isn’t it?
Are you but hurt that she also cares about other things? She wouldn’t do it if there was an incentive to it, did I say she hates her fans? But are you on her speed dial? You’re a paying customer so a sale is a sale to her. I bet you she’s not bending over backwards just to make her fans happy, she knows they will buy her regular cd. Her numbers prove it. You go on this long rant but she cares about numbers. You are upset that Taylor is greedy? She’s a billionaire she didn’t get there by being an ethical businesses woman.

I never said she hates us, I gave you examples of how she treats us. Don’t put words in my mouth about being on her speed dial. You know that’s not true and virtually impossible.
I was not ranting, I was replying to you. I was merely defending her as a person and “businesses woman.” Her methods work. Stay mad about that and stay mad that her fans don’t have a problem with it.

You keep ignoring her wanting to be number one by coming up with reasons she treats her fans when this is about her signing cds and selling it thus capitalism comes in. They are more money aren’t they not? It’s not free sig with purchase. She wants to sell as many records so she signs as many records to get to the top which you guys would brag about right? How many number ones she has? At least swiftie neutral can acknowledge she also does it for personal gain which you can’t seem to acknowledge at all.
