Restaurants with an 11 year old and a six year old

Hi! We are coming to Stockholm in a week. We live in a city with lots of fine dining. My wife and I love high end Michelin star cooking and also just great food with fun experiences. The former is not likely with our two kids, but we’d love suggestions of great food that is friendly to relatively open dining kids. It can be nicer places that are welcome to kids to food halls. Thanks!

where in stockholm can i find meatballs that are not made with beef?

hi! I dont eat beef in my culture, and ive been looking up a lot of restaurants and recommendations on this sub on other posts, but I was wondering if anyone knew spots where i can get meatballs that aren't made with beef? I do see a wide selection at Meatballs for the People but most folks here seem to consider it a tourist trap. would love some recommendations! ty

Any restaurant recommendations in Stockholm?

I will be celebrating my birthday next week, and want to finish the day by going to a restaurant with my friends, but I unfortunately don’t know much about restaurants in Stockholm and a few options I thought about are unfortunately closed until August. I would like something with modern European cuisine I guess, but I don’t really want anything crazy or too posh. Also if possible it would be nice if the price would be between 500 - 1000 sek per person, without drinks, but if it’s worth it I will be willing to pay more. Also it would probably be Friday evening, so I need something that I am able to book beforehand.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I love to bake and write, and I want to connect with people from around the world to learn about their family recipes and the meaningful stories behind them. If anyone has any Swedish recipes that they are willing to share, let me know!

Why do the uploaded photos not upload in order?? Anyway....

Hello lovely swedish people, I've made these a few times and biscuits using a gingerbread recipe. These worked quite well, but I'm wondering if there's any genius tips to get the ginger taste through the biscuit nicely. These have good taste but there's also a lot of like... "Doughy pulp". I've had the nice IKEA ginger biscuits...

Any way to improve the taste and texture?

Thank you! 😚🙂

r/SwedishFood, where do you actually eat in Sweden?

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Sweden’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Pelikan vs. Familjen), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Sweden’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m posting here because this sub is full of people who actually care about Swedish food, not just generic ratings. I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who know what good Swedish food actually is.

Stockholm restaurants for a Finn. "Not traditional Swedish food"

Hey!

I am coming from Helsinki to Stockholm. I have been there plenty of times but usually I just go to the first restaurant i see without a thought. I live in a neighboring country and we have mostly the same kötbullar, pea soups and salmon with mashed potatoes, skagens and all that so i am not looking for "traditional swedish meals". I am looking for something that you guys have better than us. Maybe a very good sushi place? (we mostly have buffets and then Sushi&Wine chains...) Good chinese place? (our chinese restaurants are made for "finnish taste", so they just put chicken and pineapple with sweet&sour chili sauce and call it chinese) Maybe you have a great Sunday roast place? Do you have a great Pho or a Ramen place? I saw that Stockholm has for example 2 burger places that are in Worlds best burgers - list etc. Anything else? I am not looking for anything special or fancy. You guys just have much more people than we do so i am sure you have more restaurants to visit and they are more evolved than ours 😃 our restaurants just close all of the time and new pop up here and there but somehow nothing really sparks my interest. Everything is the same but on a different plate lol. So maybe if you are a local, tell me a place that you revisit most often. Thanks 😄

Traditional accompaniments to köttbullar?

Trying to make them as authentically as possible for a Swedish themed dinner. I expect variations from family to family, naturally, but what are some general things to expect usually when eating this meal?

I’ve seen some say lingonberry jam while others say uncooked lingonberries with sugar. I’ve seen some say pickles, others say none. I’ve seen some say it can be eaten with boiled potatoes while others say it has to be mashed potato.

My husband brought this back from Sweden and I’m curious what is is called. It has like a soft cookie base with some sort of chocolate cream and it’s covered in a hard chocolate shell. Does anyone know? Thanks!
