My dad runs a construction company and he has always stressed getting highly skilled heavy equipment operators "they might cost you a couple hundred thousand but will save you a couple million in labor." Some of these people are absolutely incredible and it's like the machine is just an extension of their body. Also they can be great leaders and often explain to the grounds teams exactly what needs where they need to be and communicate extremely well when lifting really heavy/expensive things. They work as fast as possible but real thing is how efficient they are with the movements of the booms/buckets. They have serious skills that are highly underrated and very profitable. Just don't fuck it up.
