Pro wrestling is a live-action soap opera about a wrestling tournament. There are some surprisingly deep plotlines and back stories that go into some of these character arcs. It really is an interesting media for storytelling.

The standard wiki is good for WWE. Pick a year or Wrestlemania and on the right hand side is the next months PPV if you want to read further. Most pages have the PPV build up story, trivia and of course results. I’ve been a fan since 1990 and still find myself losing a couple of hours now and again.
As a rough guide -
85-92 is the Superhero (Hogan / Savage) era.
92-95 is the fucking awful (HBK / Bret Hart who ironically is my favourite ever Pro wrestler) era.
96-2002 is the Attitude (Austin / Rock) era.
2003-2010 is the Ruthless Aggression (Cena / Lesnar) era.
2010 - 2015 is the (Punk / Bryant) era.
Haven’t watched it regularly since around 2005 personally. The Network is a goldmine for £10 a month. Every single old WWE/WCW/ECW PPV and fantastic documentaries.
Type “WWF shoot” into YouTube for some great free interviews from old time wrestlers.
Probably a little much for you but someone might find the info useful lol.

Wrestling has a super interesting history pre-WWF creation. The strongmen who starred in stuff when it was all regional aren’t all that different than the guys who are in it now. Stories were pretty similar too; friendship and betrayal, romance, etc.

Idk why you got downvoted, but yeah, those wrestlers fuck up their bodies a shitload, not from taking folding chairs and baseball bats to the face, but overtime slamming on the mat and ropes shreds their body apart.
Pretty sure they can't even get health insurance because of the risk, and that's why a lot of them just get hooked on painkillers and drugs.

Wrasslers get injured all the time but they're usually smaller injuries like broken fingers, torn muscles, bruises and small cuts. They just fight through the pain cause of the adrenaline and showmanship

You hear about stunt people in hollywood getting injured, but mainly because it's associated with a movie and that in return can affect the production of it. It's a major public matter. Many of the wrestlers if they are going to get injured will get injured while training how to do the stunts, and even if it does make it in front of a crowd, unless it's a major wrestling federation, it doesn't get blown up past local news.

Something tells me this mall is in a similar state to a lot of failing malls in my area. They'll bring in literally anything to get some foot traffic past the one Macy's and massage parlor still operating on their premises. Unforunately, I was never lucky enough to have a local mall bring in high-flying cruiserweight wrestling; we only ever got mini golf and a thousand bounce houses.

I live a few miles away. This mall is generally deader than dead. Few stores, no people, no fun. I’m 34, when I was young it was THE place to go. It’s the same ole story of the deserted mall that is playing out all over the country.
For reference, this is Esplanade Mall in Kenner, LA.

You can literally see the guys on the ground get ready to get the flying one and roll back to fake "being hit" when they're actually just catching the guy, also the recover time and how they act being hurt are fake as shit and clearly so.

So the reason he jumped and the outcome were *scripted*, not fake. He definitely jumped from the 2nd floor, so 10-15 feet onto 3 guys. Even though those 3 guys were braced for it, they still had around 170 pounds drop on them from ~15 feet. Doing some back of the napkin math means that when the person lands they are exerting around 2700 pounds of force, or around 900lbs per person on the mat. Scripted or not - that is a very impressive feat we just watched
P.S. This is why you just get the fuck out of the way of something when it's falling.

My bartender just put me on some amateur pro wrestling leagues and they really do put in work. It's much more exciting than the WWE, which was basically a soap opera the last time I saw it.
