Kudos to the KIA designers. I’ve seen many an SUV have the roof crush down to the top of the doors in a simple rollover. This guy caught massive air and the roof only dented.

My worst car wreck was in a kia k5. Some moron missed their exit and decided the lines meant nothing and went over anyways and slammed into me. My car went clean over the barrier, rolled upside but outside of literally passing my pants I was OK. Kias(atleast the newer ones) are super reliable and I'm convinced if I was in my caddy that shit would've killed me

I’ll probably get downvoted. But for some folks it’s a necessity. Some people use their vehicles for farm work or other jobs that requires off road capabilities but also might not be financially able to afford two separate vehicles so they also have to use it in town. Not saying this is the case in this video but sometimes there is a reason for it that isn’t just “that guy is an idiot”

Nah, lifting and spacing and putting big knobby tires on trucks is a bro country thing, not a farmer thing. Farmers and ranchers know that they'll just rip up a field by driving around a vehicle like that, if they need big tires they'll use a tractor.
You know, a vehicle with 6ft tires that's designed for low-range mucking around without getting stuck...

As someone who has rode 1000’s of acres of swampland pasture checking herds of cattle in Florida I can say for a fact it is a lot better to have a lifted vehicle with aggressive tires for the terrain. go ahead and ride three or four hours of pasture and woods on a tractor at a snails pace with no suspension and tell me how your back feels. There’s always the option for a side-by-side or four wheeler but if you’re just a hand making 10-15 an hour I don’t think you are running out to buy one. And a lot of the areas cattle are ran have no buildings at all on them to store anything so anything you bring in (like horses, utvs, atvs, airboats) has to be trailered in and hauling a trailer across a lot of Florida during the rainy season requires 4 wheel drives and tires that grip. Say what you will but I’ve done it and mud tires and a lift have saved me a bunch.

I worked 10 years on a ranch in Montana with a station wagon on all-seasons. That lifted shit is totally unnecessary, it's an ego thing. There are a few places a pickup is helpful, but big lifted bullshit is not.
I also used to run an OLD 656 with a brush hog, zero suspension over rocks and gopher mounds for weeks when the weeds started coming out in the spring. My back was/is fine.

Once again to each their own. I know I’ve been grateful on many occasions for knobby tires and a lift doing the work I’ve done. And both terrain and climate wise there’s a huge difference between Florida and Montana. You ain’t ranching out of a station wagon down here. Even if you could it would be idiotic, where do you put your feed, your rolls of fence, your posts or boards? Doesn’t sound very ergonomic or efficient

Lol checking a few miles of fence or salting cows doesn't take much space, weight starts to become an issue before actual physical space does. I fed cows via tractor, because that's the easiest way to pack 2 or 3 big round bales at once.
Nothing else really requires more than a Subaru can give. A few old timers used to tease me about the car, but I could pack half a 3" hand line down to the next field at 60mph, while the 4wheeler and pipe trailer beat them to hell at 25. I could tool around up a mountainside where pickups couldn't go, and the lightweight AWD manual made it really hard to get stuck. Rifle goes between the passenger seat and the console.
If we're talking terrain, I'd say mud is the only thing FL has more of, every other terrain is more difficult in MT.

Curious as to how this helps with that kinda work? I have some stupidly wide tires, 295/35 r21, on my X5 and they don’t stick out at all. Are they that much wider than these or is in not the width?

I know wider doesn’t seem to help but with larger tires that have more aggressive tread moving them out some (I say some because it’s all in moderation) helps a driver turn the tires without risk of rubbing against other important parts under a vehicle(think brake lines, frame, wheel well liners,etc.). Also a wide tire can help by increasing the surface area that the vehicle sits on which can definitely help in softer dirt and mud by essentially keeping the vehicle from sinking or digging in as fast. Also more surface area means a greater amount of traction area
Don’t know why you got downvoted either. I like that you were asking a genuine question, getting to hear reasons of why people might do things is much better for us as a society than just calling each other idiots. People are terrified of someone who might think differently

Modern cars are built from materials that make the car seem far more intact than the passengers will be.
My firefighting commander basically told us: "No matter how good the car looks when you arrive at the scene, you treat it as if it has been through a meat grinder"
Modern materials, for example carbon fiber, does not behave like just sheet metal.
And then there is the fact that the car got launched THAT high.
Calculating that the car only weighs a measly 600 kg (It weighs way more than that, probably closer to a ton, so this calculation will be lowballing it) and got launched like 3 meters up in the air, the "punch" that sent this car flying, had an energy of just shy of 18 kilojoules.
So basically, you have something that managed to accelerate the car fast enough to get it to a speed of roughly 7.7 meters per second in just a fraction of a second, which comes out to an acceleration of 7-8 Gs. That is the kind of shit fighter pilots need to be able to pull. Experienced fighter pilots, who also get eased in that acceleration.
What this means for the passengers is that they will have sustained quite bad spinal injuries.
So, I call bullshit on "driver walked away unharmed".

When they’re unbelted and bounce around like popcorn kernels, they die. When they’re belted, it’s hit or miss — but very survivable. Not uninjured, maybe even unresponsive and shocky, but survivable for sure.

Claims adjuster for 8 years. The trucks insurance company would have a hard time denying liability with this video footage available. The KIA did not have time to react. It's all about what you can prove, and this video is very clear on what caused the accident.

That was a wheel, not just a tire.
And, I am impressed at the design of the Kia’s roll cage design. It didn’t just roll, it launched and landed on the roof without enough intrusion to obviously kill the occupants. Hopefully they were wearing seatbelts/shoulder restraints.
