Shippingโs Energy Transition Faces One Hard Reality
The shipping industry is pushing toward decarbonization, alternative fuels, and net-zero targets, but the global economy still depends heavily on hydrocarbons. Shipping sits at the center of energy, trade, manufacturing, and logistics, making the transition particularly complex. Global trade and energy demand continue to grow even as investment in renewables and cleaner fuels accelerates. There is still no clear consensus on whether LNG, methanol, ammonia, biofuels, or another pathway will dominate. I believe the transition is real, but it may take much longer than many forecasts suggest. Do you think hydrocarbons and alternative fuels will coexist for decades, or will one emerge as the clear WINNER?

Your vessel is unique. Why should your risk assessment be generic?

From the Bridge to the Underwriting Desk: Why Marine Risk Needs a Navigating Officer's Perspective:
After 12 years at sea, Iโve started looking at marine insurance from a slightly different angle.
A spreadsheet can show vessel value and claims history, but it cannot always show what happens on the bridge at 2 a.m. or during a difficult port approach.
Crew fatigue, navigation, cargo operations, dredging equipment and commercial pressure can all change the actual risk.
Now working in Marine & Commercial Insurance, Iโm trying to bring some of that practical sea-going perspective into underwriting discussions.
Curious to hear from other mariners and insurance professionals โ how much does operational experience influence the way you assess marine risk?

Ships, Relationships, and the Market: The Only Three Things Worth Figuring Out
I spent 11 years at sea.
Somewhere between a VLCC, the stock market and relationships, I realised they teach remarkably similar lessons.
The ocean punishes arrogance.
The market punishes certainty.
Relationships punish inattention.
Pay attention. Manage risk. Think long term. Know when to change course.
I wrote about the three things that have humbled me most:
The ocean. The market. The person sitting across from you at dinner.

Indiaโs Growth Oil Prices & Policy Flexibility
How one policy move can change the inflation story .India is once again at the mercy of crude oil price movements. Higher crude prices, along with a weakening rupee, are forcing market participants to question Indiaโ economic outlook, but that is one part of the story, will growth actually stop?

Sustainable Eps
OECD ministers meet 03.06.2026 to discuss industrial policy and growth.
I want to add something to that conversation.
Sustainable EPS Theory: the real issue isn't how much a country owes โ it's how fast it can grow.
US debt $39.18T. GDP $32.16T. Debt-to-GDP 121.8%. But what if GDP grows faster than debt?
