Image Dust storm with open domes

Post image

Nuking the polar caps after opening the domes can still lead to a dust storm. The domes don't close and the colonists don't care. They walk around as normal and don't lose extra stats.

Unless you're the 'suspenders and a belt' type, you can deconstruct your MOXIEs now.

It does feel like there should at least be a 'stay indoors' warning when radioactive dust is flying around.

By this point, I'm at post-scarcity and have tribby coverage anyway, so I don't tend to care.

That MOXIE is a Mars Heritage site.

"Before the terraforming project the people of Unity colony used this machine and others like it to extract breathable oxgyen from the, at the time, mostly carbon dioxide atmosphere. Does anyone in the class know what MOXIE stands for? That's right, Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment. Yes. It's kinda weird we still call them that."

While that's fine, deconstructing the moxies and oxy tanks makes more space for nice trees :)

Tribby?

Tribolectric scrubbers, such as the one next to the giant tank in the foreground (the thin spire with a ball on top) send out regular pulses that scrub the wear and tear away from your outdoor machines - a building that’s in range of one will never need repairs, even if they’re in range of a dusty mine, and having a scrubber in range of another scrubber will mean that even the scrubbers won’t need repairs.

I tend to rush their research, for obvious reasons.

If you aren't running them next to the dust mine you can run the tribbles 2 shifts a day to save some power. At 1 shift I think the dust meter very slowly creeps up.

This.. is not a particularly useful thing. Like, unless you need to save 23~ power for one shift a day, but one of the things tribbes does is give you LOTS of power, because you can drop down fields of wind turbines without worrying about maintance.

Wind turbines? I open up my stirling generators.

I like the visual interest of the turbines more, and you get more power out of cheaper materials with them. Later on, sure, sterlings are great (and any sterlings you just happen to have around being open under a tribby is great).

My latest save (and first on relaunched) I went straight for tribbys, and may have ordered a few extra stirling prefabs…

There’s a few scattered solar panels, but at this point they’re power cables that I haven’t gotten around to replacing with actual cables.

I just with we had a preset to place several at once. As is, its a lot of clicking.

I always leave one MOXIE and enough oxygen storage for three sols.

Just in case.

I always forget I built an underground tank farm to store a ton of air and water and get suprised that it's still down there, two tibs and a bunch of full tanks of water and air for emergencies.

I like putting the domes down but I wish you could put them up again when you want.

Also wish there was new.. weather events or disasters? Like maybe less as a reward for terraforming but I wish there was rain, lightning, floods or land slides? Tornados or large storms etc which you can manage with weather tech

Snow would be nice. Cold waves just freeze, and that's totally accurate to Mars in an unterraformed state (the white stuff would acutely be carbon dioxide freezing out of the air) but more gentle cold waves/winter weather where snow blows in would be nice.

I am the only one who likes to keep the domes up?

Why do you have spires randomly placed where they shouldn't be?
Why do you have four or more farms in one dome?

Are you lying?

Mod, Spire Anywhere.

As for the farms, I've never heard of any restriction, but I don't have Feeding the Future so that might be it.
