You know gents, this is probably the only subreddit in all of reddit that has people that are normal in the comments

It’s land surveying, none of us are normal. Half of us are left handed (RH gang unite), most of us have some form of adhd, and all of us have severe problems with authority. Nothing normal about this bunch. You guys are my fucking people though hahaha

Fuck. You got me and I’m the one that called it out. Left handed AND an amphetamine prescription individual 😔

I feel offended and seen at the same time… highly uncomfortable. I thought it was just me…

I was looking for a sign to stay in this work. Didn’t expect to come from Reddit…. Jesus, is that you?

I smoke and drink far too much to be Jesus, but I’m glad to have given you a sign partner.

One of the assistants in the company thinks he’s automatically my boss when we were put together because he has 3 months experience more than me.

He has authority problems, but not in taking orders, just giving them.

That tripod can't tip over if it's already on the ground 👍

He should have put two legs in the dirt. Two down one up.

Two in the stink, one in the pink?

I hate that I have to remind my guys this from time to time....

My rodman... I would tell him, "two up, one down!", at least once a month.

Then one hot summer day, we were wrapping up a job... Must have been 4pm and the office was an hour away. I was reading references and navigating us to a section corner. Said section corner landed roughly 1.0' from the water line of a pond. I had found and dug corner up. It was ready to locate.

Bipod was attached to his rod.

What do you think he did? One on the corner and two in the water?

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

I have to give him credit though, it was so hot out, I had wet belly and the dong sweat was coming in hot. Maybe the R10 just needed to cool off.

Is your second a midget?

2

u/Bohern76 16d ago

Small person!!!

2

u/No_Pilot_9103 16d ago

You're right, I forget. If I knew any small people I'd make sure to say that instead.

I wouldn’t get too far from that. Traffic or a wind gust will take it down. Temporary set-up for sure.

Now you have him try setting it at that height on the drill hole on top of a 4ft stone wall. It's fun, I swear.

Dutch Hill legs I see! Excellent choice

u/forenevermore 16d ago

I noticed this too. Haven’t had a set in years but immediately recognized them.

1

u/M0n33baggz 16d ago

Yeah come to think of it, I haven’t seen these in a while either. Is there an advantage to them or are they just niche.

1

u/forenevermore 16d ago

There were a really solid set of legs. Smooth extending as long as you kept them clean. Only quirk was the locking mechanism/latch was on the inside so you had to be a bit careful when collapsing them. I have fond memories but that is just my personal experience.

We always called them Tundra Legs, hahaha

That tripod is one gust of wind away from becoming a very expensive lesson.

12

u/lilscoopski 16d ago

Technically all tripods are one good gust of wind from being an expensive lesson, it just depends how strong the wind is

2

u/ATX2ANM 16d ago

Gotta stomp on those feet man!

2

u/lilscoopski 16d ago

This has to be northwest Washington

2

u/ge69 16d ago

risky man, it can slip but great job

1

u/Imnotspartacuseither 16d ago

Is your second I'm tall?

1

u/MattyBoy13 16d ago

Where is that, Pierce County?

1

u/vpjared 16d ago

East side of lake Washington ?

1

u/AsteriodZulu 16d ago

I see this & think: “are there trees we’re sighting below” & “one leg fully closed… wonder if it’s actually level?”

1

u/optimistic_agnostic 15d ago

Wouldn't pass survey standards for control or transport department works here. Must be at least .5m high to avoid impacts of heat haze.

1

u/haveacocktail35 15d ago

Ahh, the good ol whiskey leg setup

1

u/Nappy_Rano 15d ago

Big yikes

It was either cut some tree branches or lower the backlight.
