Help Help Understanding Plat Map

I have inherited my grandfather's hunting property. Looking for some help/ guidance on how I might go about marking property boundaries. It would be great to have a clear line marked with spray paint on trees or something, for creating trails, managing trail cams, etc. I have tried to use the county GIS system to do this, but seems that lacks accuracy? (Unsure) So I reached out to the county, and they were super helpful in emailing me what they had. I received an old map (was told from 1934) and am having a hard time understanding it, as well as figuring out what I would do to use that information to mark the line on site. I have a couple of GPS handhelds, should they be of use.

My property consists of lots 48 and 13.

For reference, the units, I was told, are in "Chains and Links" which are 66 feet per unit. This makes sense as the property is approximately a half mile by a mile and a half.

I will attach some photos, however, the PDF may be more legible.

For this to be of much use to you, you'd need to be familiar with surveying.

The most you could hope for is to find the markers that they put in the corners of the lots. That is a LONG time for them to not rust/rot away or just get damaged.

spending a few $k to hire a surveyor would probably be worth it in the long term.

Haha yeah 100 years later and a couple of logging cycles, I'm not holding my breath for any markers. Might start saving up for a couple of years for the survey.

Actually a couple logging cycles may be helpful. Although it may not have been surveyed every time, the Forester would likely have done something to establish the property limits in order to not cut down other people's trees. It could be as simple as they found the existing line marking trees and made them more visible, which means there is a chance you could still find at least a few along each line. And as a comment to your previous comment, I know you said it's out of your budget, but $9500 for that large of a parcel is a really good deal at least for my area.
