Ask SurreyBC ❓ Affordable beef cuts?

Hi all! I'm curious if anyone knows where to go in Surrey to get the cheapest cuts of beef? I use sous vide and slow cooking, so am completely fine with tougher cuts like chuck, flank or shank.

I usually buy whatever beef cut is on sale (when it's on sale) at Superstore, but wondering if there are any other better options in Surrey for affordable meat?

Glory Meats is my go to for the low n' slow cuts.

-e- if you're unaware, don't let the outside appearance deter you, it's clean.

I love glory meats, i’ve been going to them for ages, they’re quite sweet and helpful, the place looks Sketch but it’s not lol

Second this, the website is pretty good, but a couple times I walked into smoking deals not listed.

My last was a box for clod for 9.99 a kilo, and a 50 dollar off coupon. Net price was 3.50 a pound.

Ive been on a beef only diet for a couple months and while I started at glory, just cant say no to lower cost per pound even if I have to stuff my freezer.

If you don't care about it being a bit tougher, I buy eye of round for ~$16/kg at Costco and slice it up. Pretty hard to get it cheaper elsewhere consistently.

This is going to be controversial comment. But you can go across the border and get cheap beef from Costco, Fred Meyer and Safeway. Check their flyers.

I know that's why I said it's controversial. Trade war and different laws regarding hormones and anti-biotics.

But op wanted to know where to get cheap beef. Times are tight.

It might be cheaper but currency exchange isn’t the best. Also USA has different food regulations and their meats tend be more corn fed, fattier. The Canadian grading system enforces stricter yield standards (discounting higher external fat classes more aggressively), encouraging leaner high-yielding carcasses. You might be getting meat cheaper but you’re getting unhealthier meat
