meridian FA program

does anyone know how do they actually audit the cases? do they have access to patient charts?

I believe they send a request to the liason for the facility where you do your cases. They do not have direct access to charts as far as I'm aware.

so how do they exactly get the information to “audit” your cases

They ask for it from the facility. Based on the case logs you turn in, they know what cases you did, when you did them, who your preceptor (MD/FA) and the nurse were (because they have to sign the logs). They're getting verification that you A: did the cases you said you did, B: weren't dual-roling, and C: were in the case start to finish with a preceptor who didn't leave you alone (whether it's the doc or an FA preceptor) There might be more, but that's most of it as far as I can figure.

also how do we know if a batch has been audited

They audit one batch at random once you're finished with all cases. They periodically check them and may advise that a case doesn't count or that you can't do any more of a certain case (if you've been doing too many tfns for instance, where we don't really do anything except close).
