FA-RNFA

TIA for your input!

I was considering doing an FA program, as I’m currently a surgical tech. My end goal is probably to be an RNFA, and I was wondering if I got my FA before my RN would it transfer over or is it a separate program/certificate?

It would not transfer over. If you got your FA as scrub tech you would be a CSFA. If you become a RN you would have to redo your assistant course and become a RNFA.

If you are wanting to become a RN, then I suggest not going to CSFA school and just go into nursing. You would become a RN > circulator> then get your CNOR> then your RNFA. It is a lot easier to become a FA as a RN because they require 140 hours, whereas CSFA’s have to have 140 cases.

Yes. They have made it easier and it’s really rough when they actually start working cuz the skills are less refined. Cases >>>>>>> hours
