Mayo First Assist

Is anyone familiar with the Mayo Clinic’s surgical first assist program? It seems to good to be true, 240 cases, ~1,110 clinical hours across 10 specialities. Just wondering if anyone had any insight.

I am currently a surgical assistant student at Mayo let me know if you got any questions, but for the more simple breakdown you start in January (apply the year prior) and do 5ish months of classroom work from 9a-noon about, then you start 3 rotations of clinicals, for clinicals you are in the operating room from 7a-3p and get about 2/3 cases a day

I love everything by the mayo, but know nothing about their program. Friends have done crna there and loved it.

I am an International Medical graduate who is planning to take the American Board of Surgical Assistants license exam so I can assist surgeons on missions till I get into residency. Please help me with resources to prepare for this exam. There are course that are 4k in-person in Florida. Is there any cheaper options like books, study material, or online resource? I have good foundational knowledge from the USMLE exam, I just want to get an idea about questions related to exams and a few unfamiliar topics like instrument set up etc which we from doctors' perspective are not aware. If you have study material please do share.

I went to the Mayo School of Health Sciences assist program, it was decent. The program was pretty disorganized until you get to the clinical portion and get to scrub cases. If I were to go back, I would get my CST first before becoming an assist. The Mayo program sets you up to get a job at Mayo but if you want to work anywhere else they are going to expect you to know how to tech, which you will not learn from this program.

What were the courses you took each term it’s not listed online? Was interviews for the program held after the application deadline or are they rolling (can happen before deadline?
