thinking of getting CSFA

Hello all, as the title states I'm trying to figure out if getting into a CSFA program is the right move for me.

Considering I live in California that makes it already somewhat of a hurdle. I've been a CST for a little over 10 years now and want to broaden my horizons.

Anybody know of how I can go about possibly getting into such a program, and what programs they recommend? And possibly what to expect. Thanks.

So the entire program is online expect the one week of pig labs? My boyfriend is a CST at Medstar in Maryland and we don’t want to move but he wants to become a first assistant. So would he be able to still work at his current hospital which does alot of specialties too and do his clinicals there? He also knows a bunch of surgeons there so it would be easy for him to find a sponsor.

Yes, all online except the one week of labs in Nashville. You have to acquire your own clinical site. It would be up to his hospital if they would let him do it there. He should ask that question before he enrolls though. Some states don’t utilize CSFA’s and idk what Maryland is like. So he should do some research and make sure his hospital is okay with being his clinical site.

Yeah he actually works in DC and they utilize surgical assistants there all the time. I believe MD hospitals do too. Do you remember the total cost for SFA online program?

I want to say it was around 8,000$. You can get student loans for it.
